Just boarded a normal bus instead of sleeper bus to travel to Coastal Carolina for the weekend, and since sleeping is not an option anymore, I am diving into my first baseball-CV project. Live-tweeting every discovery until we arrive or I somehow fall asleep. Enjoy this 🧵

@cjbaldock 1,260,683. 5.35% above 94. This includes the postseason, so expect this year to pass last pretty significantly

Before you say "This is just the Power 4 showing off their arms" 7,961 of these 94+ MPH pitches have come from Mid- Majors. This is 37% compared to 38% of total pitches from last year. It's early, this will climb Hitters and pitchers alike should train accordingly👀

Much has been optimized, or at least improved, in modern baseball. But there's still some lower-hanging fruit: like optimizing the workloads and usage of a college pitching staff. @drivelinebb can help with that. Let's explore: drivelinebaseball.com/2026/03/how-wo…

Rare non-golf tweet. It feels like college baseball is “having a moment.” Been seeing a lot of tweets intimating the same after opening weekend. My fandom has definitely increased over the past ~3 years. Feels like there’s a couple reasons. Curious others’ thoughts. - Quicker transition for top players to MLB. And MLB’s resurgent popularity. - ESPN/ESPN+. Can now see a ton of games on streaming. - College baseball stadiums rock. And it’s a super affordable ticket (as minor league prices seem to have gone through the roof.) - The regular season is catching up to the popularity that the College World Series has long enjoyed. - The strength of mid-majors. The big boys still dominate but mid-majors can compete. And, for a lot of those mid-majors, baseball is their top sport (like my alma mater) so you get more alumni interest. - Non-conference play. Florida State comes to town twice this year to play Jacksonville and North Florida in Tuesday games. Not sure there’s another sport where major schools play so often at mid-majors. - Three-game series. Gives the underdog even more chances to score the upset. Last year, Cal Poly lost the first two against then-No. 1 What am I missing?

Congrats to Dominic Pipkin on signing with the @Pirates! 🏴‍☠️ His filled up the zone at Pro Day, showcasing a four-pitch mix including a heater that climbed to 98.2 mph. Big-time power paired with excellent command.

Congrats to @PLNUBaseball alum Ray Cebulski on signing with the @Mariners 🔱👏 Ray turned heads at Pro Day with a five-pitch mix — featuring a heater up to 93.0, 92+ sinker, and a high-80s cutter — showing real intent across his arsenal.

Four arms. Four impressive profiles. Some of our best from Pro Day weekend in the desert 🔥 Taking the top spot, Dominic Pipkin brough the loudest heater of the weekend, sitting 96-98 and topping at 98.2 on his last fastball of the day. He paired it with a four-pitch mix (SL , CH, CB) while showing an impressive blend of power and command. The former 4th overall pick Riley Pint reminded everyone what first-round arm talent looks like. He ran the fastball up to 97.4, mixed in a 95-96 sinker, and showed quality feel for both the sweep and slider. AJ Block worked 92-93 with the heater (93.7 max) and leaned on a true plus sweeper that brough some of the nastiest swing and miss of the entire event. He rounded it out with a solid change, giving hitters a tough look from the left side. Taylor Lehman offered a different look from a lefty, featuring a unique cutter-based arsenal with it climbing to 92.8. He complemented it with a slider/sweeper combination that kept hitters uncomfortable throughout the outing.

Congratulations to Andrew Bash on signing with the Minnesota @Twins! 👏 Here's a good look at his latest live ABs. Bash posted a 2.57 ERA with 72 Ks in AAA last year, ultimately earning himself the Buffalo Bisons 2025 Warren Spahn Most Valuable Pitcher Award. Needless to say the future is bright! 📈
