I’m just enjoying seeing a non-traditional team make a one-loss run. 🙂 And to be serious for a minute, the in-season playoff rankings aren’t doing anyone any good. We’d all be better off if the playoff was announced at the end of the year, March Madness-style.

@LJ_Nomad @mgiannotto Good point. It also fits well with the biggest mistake in U.S. soccer - not setting MLS at the top of a true promotion/relegation pyramid. A huge missed opportunity to make professional soccer different from other U.S. pro sports.

@mgiannotto I always hate the designation of USL teams as minor-league teams. It's not like minor league baseball or the NBDL where development is the primary purpose. It is a professional league that just sits lower on the pyramid.

Memphis 901 FC never made sense after 1st season. When it started, ownership said they did it largely to have more dates filled at AutoZone Park. Then the league mandated soccer-specific stadiums. And I always disagreed with the emphasis on wins/losses for a minor league team.
