I'm chronologically older now that my grandfather was when he became a grandfather, and I am feeling completely fine about this. Aging is a different experience now than it was a generation or two ago. It will be even more different soon.

I've been trying to import a dataset for 2 hours in R. This is never going to be my thing, is it?

@Saboo_Shubham_ Yeah this is a waste of time. It can basically give you a link to a template and you have to customize it yourself in Canva...

Canva meets ChatGPT 🤯 ChatGPT now has Canva plugin that can transform text into stunning visuals. All you need to do is to provide a simple text prompt in English describing the visual and Canva plugin takes care of the rest!

@StatModeling Indeed! I had gpt4 translate some complex jags code to Stan this week and it did it perfectly after I explicitly defined each variable. Amazing time saver!

The Utah Jazz will play three Sunday home games this season. The NBA mandated every team submit four such home dates

@rnsoicher I don't think it makes sense to use a paired t test since these students aren't paired. If you had samples of multiple classes, you could use a mixed effects model or something to account for within class correlation but in this case the independent test makes sense to me.

@brintzbe It is a full class, half of which are randomly assigned to one condition (the other half to another). Assuming the class is a sample of undergrad and grad psych students.

Knowing that a t-test and a one-way ANOVA with only two groups are essentially the same, is there a good reason to run ANOVA instead of a t-test? Is my preference for t-test just a preference?

@rnsoicher Hey! I see, I guess I'd agree that the output of the t test from a statistical software is more informative. Regarding dependence/independence, are you just comparing a full class that's split into two groups? Are you assuming the class is a sample of some larger pseudopop?

@brintzbe Ben! That's what I said! But for reporting in a paper, aren't the t-test results more informative (inc. mean difference and confidence interval, rather than only the f-stat and p-value)? Also, what's your thought on my independent v. dependent question? :)

Jazz have been playing awesome team basketball with pace... so THT decides to slow it down and take a pull-up 3 after 10 dribbles himself. So frustrating.
