“Normal is a sad song” Yes it is. Rapline’s verses especially broke me the first time I heard them. And the way their verses directly reflect their roles and the mantles they’ve adopted as RM, SUGA and j-hope of BTS. Hobi. The man who has literal hope in his name. Who became the embodiment of hope and light to so many. The one deemed the happy one. The one everyone looks to when they’re down. The man who felt like he couldn’t show show hi struggles and fears and worries because he’s always had to be the positive one. The easy going one. The man who even during times where he was not ok, would smile, square his shoulders and say, yea I’m okay I’m your hope after all. He sings, “How am I supposed to feel? Used to think I was built with a heart made of steel. Now I understand the truth, some pain don’t heal. If everything’s just happy, that ain’t real.” Yoongi. The man who has openly admitted that mundane things like going to the movies are what he cherishes most. The one who cried when he realised how big bts was becoming and what it meant for them. The man who people went after because of his vulnerability. The man who has openly spoken about his mental health struggles. The man who had to compartmentalise his identities to make sense of his journey, his anger, his frustrations. The man who over the years has come to accept that this was what he chose. His normal. He sings, “I breathe everything out like a thousand times. Normal and special, they are just some lines. One deep sigh, then it slips away, fades away. What I try to keep never want to stay.” And then— Namjoon. The leader of BTS. The literal front line of his team. The man who has carried all of this for over a decade. The man whose words are constantly taken, kneaded, broken down, twisted, reimagined. The man who is criticised twice as hard because of who he is, the team he’s part of and the company he’s from. The man who at some point lost his true self in all the varied versions of himself that he had to become to satisfy every party. Versions that haunted him. He sings, “Run away, pushin me, pullin me. Said you wanted all of me but what is even all of me? Suddenly, part of me is haunting me. Heard the things they callin me, what the hell you want from me?” So yes. A hundred times yes. Normal is a very very sad song.

Ryan Tedder said on Zach Sang show that BTS picks everything themselves: the songs, the writing, the direction. He addressed “Some people still think someone at HYBE or Bang PD is pulling the strings. BUT no!" They had to wait for the members to return to determine the album’s direction. Only BTS leads BTS. Just a reminder for the people at the back.

Channel 7 changed the terms & conditions for their free BTS ticket giveaway, and they’ve DOUBLED the prices… These are supposedly the cheapest BTS tickets that will be available. Get your money ready AUS ARMY, because we’re about to be robbed of every cent we have. What a joke.

NAMJOON DEDICATING THEIR AMAS TO ARMYS AND TALKED ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE ABOUTVHOW THEY WERE TREATED BACK IN 2017 VS NOW THANKS TO ARMYS🥹 🐨9 years ago when we first attended the AMAs, we literally had no room so, we had to fix our make up in the hallway. So when the starspassed by we were like "we are sorry", but last night we used the biggest room. And everyone, every legend, every staff they were so nice and kind to us. And we know it's because of you guys. it's all thanks to you and we'll never forget the night we had at the AMAs. I love you.

BTS's AMA Triumph: Reactions from a Korean Online Community An expert who often writes about culture posted about BTS’s appearance at the American Music Awards on the website I frequently visit, whose members are mostly middle-aged. The title of the post roughly translates to: “BTS Makes New History in American Pop Culture by Winning the AMA Grand Prize.” The post explains, based on the writer’s knowledge of the entertainment industry, how the American Music Awards, one of the three major American pop music award ceremonies alongside the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards, appeared unusually determined to secure BTS for this year’s ceremony. He points out that the event was held in Las Vegas at the exact same time BTS happened to be in the city for their concert tour. Even more telling, one of the group’s off days between concerts lined up perfectly with the awards ceremony itself. He sees this as strong evidence that the organizers intentionally planned the event around BTS’s schedule. To add my own two cents, there is some basis for that argument. BTS announced the dates and locations for their ARIRANG tour on January 13, while CBS revealed the May 25, 2026 AMA date on March 10. The timing does raise eyebrows. What surprised the writer most was that BTS did not perform live on stage that night. Instead, the AMAs used concert footage in place of a live performance, while the other artists still appeared beneath the bright stage lights and performed in person. He argues that this was nearly unheard of for one of America’s three major music award shows. To him, it felt almost as though the organizers were saying, “Please just come to the ceremony. We will make every accommodation possible.” That is how extraordinary the situation appeared from his perspective. For the writer, the broader conclusion is clear. The way the AMAs treated BTS suggests that the group’s influence and stature within the American music industry may be far greater than what is typically conveyed in Korean news coverage. It was read by over 7,000 members, more than most of the other posts on that day, and here are some of the replies people left below the post: “넘 자랑스럽고 행복하네요.” (“This makes me feel so proud and happy.”) “내내 BTS를 얼마나 언급하던지. BTS 섭외 성공해서 엄청 좋았나 보더라고요.” (“They kept mentioning BTS throughout the entire ceremony. It really seemed like they were thrilled they succeeded in bringing BTS in.”) “우리 언론만 외면.” (“Only our own media keeps overlooking them.”) “대한민국에 빛나는 근사한 사람들 ‘BTS.’” (“BTS, truly wonderful people who shine brightly for South Korea.”) “이번 앨범 몽땅 완소!” (“I absolutely love every song on this album!”) “공연 한달이 넘으니 탄이들 모두 정강이가 아프다 할 정도로 뼈를 갈고 있던데 일정이 너무 타이트해서 어쩌나 싶었어요. 근데 공연 영상 대체는 충격적이었고 시상식 인터뷰 보는데 넘넘 자랑스럽더라구요.” (“They’ve been performing for over a month now, to the point the members were saying even their shins hurt from pushing themselves so hard, so I was worried the schedule was becoming too intense. But replacing the live stage with concert footage was honestly shocking, and watching their interviews at the ceremony made me feel incredibly proud.”) “와 대박 경사입니다. BTS 정말 자랑스럽습니다. 와 진짜 대박이네. 어메리칸뮤직어워즈 대상 국뽕이 차오른다.” (“Wow, this is huge news. BTS makes me so proud. Seriously unbelievable. Seeing them win the grand prize at the American Music Awards fills me with national pride.”) “BTS가 그 거대한 콘서트장 매번 가득 채우는거 보면 경이롭더군요. 멕시코 공연도 엄청났는데 매회 공연마다 스탠퍼드와 라스베가스 거대 공연장 가득 채운거 보고 이건 어나더 레벌이다 싶더만요.” (“It’s astonishing seeing BTS fill those enormous stadiums every single time. The Mexico concerts were massive too, but watching them completely fill huge venues in Stanford and Las Vegas over and over again made me realize they are on another level.”) “베가스 온거리가 BTS로 도배된 건 다 아시죠? 진짜 핵수퍼스타도 이런 수퍼스타가 없어요.” (“You all saw how the entire city of Vegas was covered with BTS everywhere, right? Even among global superstars, there’s no superstar quite like this.”) “우리 아이들 너무 자랑스럽습니다! 흥해라 방탄! 건강하게 투어 허자.” (“I’m so proud of our boys! May BTS continue to thrive! Let’s finish the tour safely and in good health.”) “20세기에는 비틀즈 21세기에는 BTS가 레전드” (“The Beatles were the legends of the 20th century. BTS are the legends of the 21st.”) “한국에서 너무 홀대해서 걱정했는데 글로벌로는 더 성장했다는. 더 올라갈 수 있나 싶었는데 지붕을 뚫었.” (“I worried because they are so underappreciated in Korea, but globally they’ve grown even more. I wondered if they could rise any higher, and instead they shattered the roof.”)

Aussie ARMY is going to war over @Ticketmaster_AU and its hidden prices: “A sales process can be lawful and still create a poor decision environment for consumers, especially when people are being asked to make expensive choices under pressure.” In a country famous for “a fair go”, this practice feels morally unacceptable, even if it manages to scrape through legally. I sincerely hope fans of other artists add their voices too. Despite responding to many other fan questions under their announcements across multiple platforms, Ticketmaster has very pointedly ignored repeated queries about ticket prices and seating maps. There has been zero acknowledgement of the issue itself. Kudos to @hijessicayun at @smh for drawing attention to it. And, just for added shits and giggles, the T&Cs of a competition to win BTS tix on @morningshowon7 suddenly changed overnight with 4 E Reserve tickets initially valued at $399.80 leaping to $799.60! That’s not a tiny typo. That’s literally double the original listed value. BTS Ticketmaster controversy: Fans livid over ‘very predatory’ purchase arrangement smh.com.au/business/consu…
