@srbrown70 I think the pitcher thing has been confirmed right? Like pitchers can control some, but iirc somebody like Bauer said the best mentality is aim middle middle and let your natural break take it where you want. Idk

what's crazy about this one is if you showed me this without the white circles i'd say his approach looks perfect. my model just thinks 1) pitchers are worse at throwing strikes than we think and 2) hitters are worse at creating value with their swings than we think

same plots for Juan Soto but reversed: heat map is where he swings by count, and the white line is the boundary of where he should swing. not sure which version I like more, but both tell the same story
