I am giving @bluesky a try. I will fully move there if I like the test drive. Check me out there bsky.app/profile/bronto…

@rpetre My solution is simple and clever, so maybe it's pure genius? 🤣 Kiddiiiiiiiing!!! 😆

@brontolinux Ah, I see. I use the apt cache as emergency ballast (a good way to free up disk space in an emergency), so I'm always quick about dropping it :) Your title promised a more interesting rabbit hole, the rm was a bit anticlimactic...
English

@rpetre I have sources from 6 different providers, besides debian: the only one repository that consistently has this problem is Dropbox'. It must mean something... 😉

@brontolinux My days of mirror management are behind me, but there were a couple of weird corner cases when you updated the mirror in a wrong order and clients caught it in an inconsistent state (ie. it might not be specific to dropbox). Too bad you deleted the evidence :)

@rpetre apt-cache clean was suggested in many posts, but I don't want to wipe my package cache: we have that for a reason and it's a damn good one. That's why I acted only on those files.
Thanks for contributing your ideas every time, I appreciate that greatly!!!

@brontolinux Maybe it's one of the things you tried and didn't work, but I usually run 'apt-cache clean' to try to bring sanity to apt's files before messing around manually in them.

@markburgess_osl @cfgmgmtcamp Yes Mark, it has. During last year's event I had an idea for a talk proposal. It's soon @cfgmgmtcamp again, and the talk isn't ready 😒
English

@brontolinux @cfgmgmtcamp Good lord, has it been a year already?

I am reemerging briefly from my Twitter sabbatical only to say that I will be attending @cfgmgmtcamp. Wave if you are attending, too, and you'd like to meet. I will check replies when we are closer to the event. 👋

I saw a post about a tool called ipinfo by @rfc1036 in Mastodon. Ipinfo collects in a single tool some of the functionality offered by other tools like e.g. whois or ipcalc, plus geolocation, subnetting, IP validation, and more. Here are my favourites: syslog.me/2023/11/13/ipi…

My LinkedIn post about my article "Five DNS client tools, and how to use them" received good feedback, with a lot of suggestions and alternatives to the tools presented. I have now summarised those contributions in a new article:

Did you ever had to debug #DNS issues in a container running in #Kubernetes, and didn't know how to use the DNS client that was available in there? I got you covered with my latest blog post: Five DNS client tools, and how to use them.

I am now removing the app from my phone, and the site from my sidebar in @vivaldibrowser. I will post updates occasionally (e.g. blog posts) but otherwise not check Twitter at all. If you send me messages, it may take weeks or months before I notice, be aware.

@tijmentiming @vivaldibrowser Great tip! Alas, what I miss in that set-up, and was available in #TweetDeck,
is the ability to filter contents from list (e.g. show me the contents from this list that have the #F1 tag set). Yet, good idea indeed.
