guess how many people showed up at CB1 to scream about how horrible the redesign is: ZERO. because the opposition was always an astroturf campaign. 28 people lined up to support the plan and talk about it on a tuesday night. even the board was mostly positive.

last night the @NYC_DOT presented their plan to finish the mcguinness blvd. redesign to brooklyn CB1. previous meetings included some of the nastiest behavior i'd ever witnessed at a community board meeting, and that's saying something.

This week is the first at the Daily News since Heath Freeman's Alden Capital laid off our entire print production staff.
It's embarrassing to open the paper we work so hard for each day and find mistakes like this.

My mom was laid to rest yesterday after a beautiful service at Our Lady of Angels Church in Bay Ridge & then on to her final resting place in Greenwood Cemetery.

@ShabazzStuart Other factor that can add to this - the cost of keeping upper floors up to code. Sprinklers, in particular. And likely not (originally) code requirements but rather insurance companies. We see the same thing on Flatbush Av & (slightly differently) on mfg bldgs in north Bklyn

Not nearly every building…but for the smaller older properties the retail value far exceeds the office and residential value on the upper floors to the point where it often does not make sense to maintain access to those floors.
