Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.

If you are an empath, you will understand this... Some days I wake up with my emotions on fire, bouncing around my head like a volcanic eruption. And I try my best to keep them inside... Inevitably they leak out, good and bad... Tears flow uncontrollably, seen as weakness by the unknowing, seen as incredible strength by those that know... The people that know... those are my people. I spent 50 years thinking I was off, weird, a freak... Try as I might, I never fit it... Until one day, I realized I had it all wrong, instead of trying to fit in with others, I needed to find people that fit with me... Possibly the most powerful realization in my life. I no longer apologize for who I am and how I am... Take a peek at my pinned tweet, it says it all...

The guy in the wheelchair sees the guy walking and wishes he could walk. The guy walking sees the guy on the bike and wishes he had a bike. The guy on the bike sees the guy in the car and wishes he had a car. Life is all about perspective. Quit comparing yourself to others and just focus on yourself. We’re all on different chapters of our stories.
