I’m told that this video was taken moments before the Cal Baptist’s final dual. An interesting listen, to say the least.

Wow. Cal Baptist announced they were cutting Wrestling earlier this week, so the team was going to compete in their final meet without CBU logos. Deputy AD Joey Logan came in to threaten the team that either they would wear school-issued uniforms or not compete.

California Baptist University’s decision to discontinue its wrestling program has deeply impacted the Riverside County community. District Attorney Mike Hestrin is urging us all to stand alongside parents, athletes, and local leaders advocating for the program’s reinstatement.

If you’re a D1 AD and you’re cutting sports and citing Title IX at any time - 50+ years after the passage of the law - that’s not the law’s fault - that’s YOUR fault. Compliance is built into EVERY contract and if you can’t do that, you aren’t qualified to lead.

Nobody tells you this when you start wrestling… They don’t tell you how hard it’s going to get. They don’t tell you about the early mornings. The workouts that break you down and the practices that leave you questioning if you really want this. They don’t tell you about the weekends you’ll spend in a gym while your friends are out living “normal” lives. Or how holidays start to feel more like weigh-in days than celebrations. They don’t tell you what it feels like to step on the scale, dehydrated and drained, praying you made weight only to still have to go out and wrestle hours later. They don’t tell you how lonely it gets. How brutal this sport is on your body, your mind, your spirit. But they also don’t tell you what it gives you. They don’t tell you how wrestling teaches you to suffer with purpose. How it forges discipline in places you didn’t even know were weak. How it trains your mind to keep showing up.. especially on the days you don’t feel like it. They don’t tell you that through the pain, the pressure, the heartbreak… You will find a version of yourself you didn’t even know existed. Stronger. Sharper. Hungrier. They don’t tell you that one day you’ll look back and realize that everything you went through. the early mornings, the cuts, the setbacks. wasn’t just about wrestling. It was about becoming the kind of person who doesn’t quit. The kind of person who keeps going when it’s hard, when it hurts, when no one’s watching. The kind of person who can walk into any storm and not flinch. That’s what this sport gives you. if you let it. Not everyone makes it. But if you stick with it, wrestling will shape you into the kind of person who can handle anything. And that… That’s worth every drop of sweat, every loss, every ounce of doubt. Because wrestling doesn’t just build athletes. It builds warriors.

@FrontierCare We had to miss the wedding, and none of the tech was working last night in an attempt to rebook. I’m am unsure why we never received a text or an email that it was cancelled. Luckily I checked the website last night instead of showing up at the airport at 4 AM. Poor service!
