Think Spotify’s podcast algorithm isn’t good enough and doesnt understand what you actually want? Well, now you can just build your own! 💚🎧 A while ago we rolled out Prompted Playlists, where you can write your own ”algorithm” for what you want, in plain English. So if you wanted a playlist of ”My favorite genres, but only stuff I never heard before” you can now do that, or ”stuff in my taste that is up and coming but not mainstream yet” or ”songs trending in TV shows right now, and tell me from which show and episode on each track” or why not ”always give me the songs from the latest episode of Landman”? 😉 You can schedule the playlists to update daily, weekly etc to keep you up to date, and you get an explanation for why each tracking there. People really love this feature. But a very common request has been why they couldn’t do the same for their podcast…. So now you can! If you want a daily or weekly updating list of podcasts on a certain super niche topic, just ask for it! If you don’t want full episodes, then ask for only chapters instead. If you want any new episode in the last week or month with a certain guest, just ask for it, or why not just ”The recent TBPN clips about Topic X. Or if you’re an AI nerd like me maybe ”Give me the best explanation of the transformers attention mechanism, just relevant chapters” 🤓 It’s a great way to explore the depth and niches of the catalog and also to break out of your own taste if you feel trapped in it, just say ”….only shows I’ve never listened to before” And finally, the one you should all try - just because it’s so fun. ”What are the first tracks I ever listened to on Spotify? Order them from the very first track I ever streamed - with date and time - and keep going.” Give it try!

given it's one of the most requested features i hear from artists, i'm so excited we're launching the beta for artist profile protection today. when turned on, it adds a new step for artists in @spotifyartists, where they review new releases that list them as an artist, actively approving them before they can appear on their profile. that means spammy releases won't show up on your profile or get recommended to your listeners. we're excited to be the first streaming service to address this problem that has plagued the entire industry for years. we're testing it out first with thousands of artists starting today and will roll it out more broadly as soon as we can. it's a particularly complex feature, so i broke it down in this video. or you can read more in our blog: artists.spotify.com/blog/introduci…

Music being posted to the wrong artist profile is an industry-wide problem, and we're excited to be taking a first step to help. Today, we're introducing Artist Profile Protection, an optional feature in Spotify for Artists. Turn it on to get notified any time a release is delivered that lists you as an artist, then review and approve it. Aaaand another very cool launch! ”About the song” brings you instantly into the know for any new track you find on Spotify and lets you know the background story and what the Internet is saying about it. I find it incredibly useful in general, but especially combined with lyrics translations (also recently rolled out more broadly) and music videos (also recently rolled out globally), it is an amazing way to discover, understand and learn everything about an artist in a language you don’t speak (which is a lot of listening these days)

Spotify has both ad-supported and paid streams. All listening activity matters. But I think it’s right to weight paid streams more. People paying ~$150 per year for music…it means more, shows a greater level of fan intent, and is better for artists and the ecosystem.

Wrapped still surprises me every year…not because it exists (I obviously knew it was coming 😅) but because of how huge it’s become. What started as a small idea over a decade ago has grown to more than 11 trillion minutes of global listening this year alone, and a moment hundreds of millions of people screenshot, joke about (yes, even at our expense), and share every year. And this year’s experience is our biggest yet. I’m especially excited that for the first time, you’ll see your top album of the year. Fun fact: album listening on Spotify has increased nearly 35% on Spotify in 2025, compared to 2024 - very cool to see that growth. Huge thanks to the teams who bring this to life.
