Nah the fake google search is just one of many tricks and gimmicks he uses. Most of his media appearances involve “pre show” work which could mean a lot of things. Here’s an example, before cameras are rolling he shuffles a deck of cards each with a unique celebrity name written on it. He has the host pull a card and really emphasizes how random that selection is so they are bought in to it being a random celebrity. But he forces the card because he’s an expert card magician so it’s not random at all, it’s planted. This whole time he’s using clever language and talking in circles to confuse the hosts to obscure his tricks. Then when he tells them to “think of a random celebrity” on air he phrases it so the audience thinks they are coming up with a name in their head in that moment, but Oz saying “think of a random celebrity” is the cue for the participant to recall the celebrity card they drew prior, which they do actually believe was completely random. Stevie Baskin shows several clips where hosts mention the pre show work as they are mind blown trying to figure out how he just did whatever trick and Oz usually talks over them in such a smooth way that doesn’t seem rude but shuts them down.

@JOEL9ONE This doesn’t add up. He would have to convince host of every show he’s on to google something?

Boom this is all you need. $449, loaded with features and super quiet. Even the Midea entry level at $299 is solid but this one has bottle wash jets and a 3rd rack. Don’t give up on dishwashers just yet! 24-in Top Control Built-in Dishwasher ( Stainless Steel ) With Third Rack, 47-Decibel lowes.com/pd/Midea-24-bu…

Ah, then yes it might actually waste a ton of water electricity and space while not cleaning your dishes well 🤣. How old are we talkimg here? Best guess 80’s/90’s or within 20 years old? Do you rent? If so, do you pay utilities? In smaller apartments like a converted SF home where units are metered together and utilities are included in the rent you could make a strong case to the landlord to upgrade the dishwasher, cut the utility bill, and increase profit on monthly rents. I suspect you don’t actually use your old and shitty dishwasher so start running it daily for a month or two before you make your case 👍🏻

Dishwashers are the biggest scam. Oh hi I will use a ton of electricity and water and space but also you need to do like 99.99% of the work before you load me or I will spray caked on debris all over your dishes.

@imnotpierre @Djt52336043Djt @barstoolsports Pierre is right, you must trust Le Snail. Though asserting “most things” to the fake Google search gimmick is incorrect as that is just one of many arrows in Oz’s quiver.

@Jdribble07 @Georgeboogie12 @OleGriersy That and he sold a book about how to use mentalism in everyday life, using skills that he doesn’t actually use himself. His book doesn’t mention his pre-show work, magic tricks, or gimmicked notepads.

@Georgeboogie12 @OleGriersy Oz very distinctly says he is not a magician, and that he employs no magic tricks during his act. He claims that the 'skills' he has were picked up through decades of studying the human mind and condition.

@barstoolsports I gave my best shot at using what Stevie taught us to break down an Oz segment from CNBC in Dec 2023. How did I do?
Brad Gross@bsgross606

Disclaimer, I’m far from an expert on this as i’ve only watched Stevie’s video once but I’ll give it a shot. Also, this CNBC Closing Bell segment features Mastercard but he doesn’t predict a price. But this trick is 2 things, 1) pre-show work with Contessa and 2) classic sleight of hand. Notice how he goes back and forth with her telling her to change her mind repeatedly on which movie she’s supposed to write down. This looks like confusion, at 5:10 Oz even say’s “I’m so confused” but he is not, this is misdirection—he is in control. All that talk around and he has her get back to “the first movie” which likely references a pre-show conversation. He even glances at the clipboard which was supposed to be subtle and says “no don’t show me” when she turns it his way even though he was clearly looking to make sure she wrote down the right thing. Then at 5:26 you’ll see the sleight of hand where he plants the torn book page with the word matrix on it. The whole tearing the pages up over and over exercise is also a big misdirection to give the illusion of complete randomness but the rather sloppy sleight of hand switch is where it all happens. So remember Oz starts with the stocks, pre-show work has led her to select the Matrix as her movie and all the “confusion” is there to hide that it was preselected, and the planted torn page fragment ties it all together. youtu.be/PQBEYyO-IC4?si…

@barstoolsports This was the work of Stevie Baskin. Pablo Torre exposed nothing he just reported it and if he didn’t give Stevie proper credit for his 5 HOUR video, he should have. youtu.be/FnwcU-XDyJ4?si…

You should really just watch Stevie’s whole video and I think it will answer a lot of your questions. Some people are slightly “in on it” by doing pre-show work but they don’t realize the trick has already started in that moment before cameras are rolling. It is all pretty simple but he executes it masterfully, he really is so incredibly smooth. And the way he can multitask and tie it all together turns a handful of simple tricks into something very complicated.

@Tlmiller20 @bsgross606 @barstoolsports No its obviously tricks. I just want to know how some of them are performed without people acting. Although im sure the explanation is something even more simple than people being in on it

@bsgross606 @barstoolsports I havent seen the full 5 hr video, but i saw a shorter version last year. The one trick that came to mind was when he was on cnbc and had the host pick a stock (MASTERCARD) and they looked up the stock price at that moment and the price was whatever he had predicted or somethin

@Djt52336043Djt @barstoolsports I’m not disputing your claim but since I’m so wrapped up in this could you please tell me which tricks can’t be explained? Also, did you watch Stevie’s 5 hour video? He’s obviously pretty thorough, hence the video length, so I’d love to know what he missed.

No, that’s kind of the whole point Stevie makes. Because Copperfield is a magician and his audience knows he’s doing tricks. Oz makes false claims that he can read body language and distances himself from magicians while using the same tricks and gimmicks. It’s an ethical debate about where to draw the line in deceiving an audience. I realize a 5hr video is a lot to watch but he discusses all this stuff thoroughly and solely based off your questions, I think you’d find it very interesting.

@TaylorLewan77 Either way, dude is an entertainer and OZ was entertaining. Why try to demonize the guy for using tricks to perform magic? I mean, is Pablo going to go after David Copperfield next?

Fair, I only got through it because I commute 1.5hrs daily (I mostly listened). I haven’t watched the pod yet but I imagine it cuts to the point and summarizes Baskin’s points pretty well. It is all fascinating. One thing I appreciate is that while exposing and criticizing Oz, Stevie continually gives credit for how talented he is at his game. Not only is Oz an expert magician but he controls his audience so well, like when he cuts people off when he knows they’re about to reference pre-show work. He doesn’t read minds but he is always a few steps ahead. Even when you see behind the curtain you can still appreciate what Oz does.

@F_My_fpL @AdamAbramson @barstoolsports A narrow save. It could have probably helped to watch the Pablo clip first 😬. I am really glad they had Stevie on, I found his video about a month ago and couldn’t believe it hadn’t gained more traction. I found it fascinating and this was the boost it needed.
