No argument that most Christian denominations are opposed to abortion however many do allow abortion, but that’s not really the point here. The point is getting deeper and that if you want to remain consistent with historical precedent, the Catholic Church is the only religion that remains consistent with views on contraception.

@bt4liberty @sola_chad That's your rebuttal? Show me from the text how I'm wrong. You don't care what the text says, you only care what your “church” tells you it says. Sola Ecclesia.

@MarvinMediocre @sola_chad John Calvin “The voluntary spilling of semen outside of intercourse between man and woman is a monstrous thing. Deliberately to withdraw from coitus in order that semen may fall on the ground is doubly monstrous.” — Commentary on Genesis 38

@MarvinMediocre @sola_chad St. Augustine (c. 419 AD) “Intercourse even with one’s legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked where the conception of the offspring is prevented. This is what Onan, the son of Judah, did, and the Lord killed him for it.” — Against Faustus 22:30

The historic Christian position for nearly 2,000 years was unanimous: artificial contraception was sinful. The first major break came at the Anglican Lambeth Conference in 1930, where contraception was permitted in limited cases. After that, most Protestant denominations gradually followed—especially through the 1950s–60s. So yes, Genesis 38 involves violating levirate duty, but the reason Christians universally connected it to contraception for centuries is because Onan deliberately frustrated the procreative act itself. Catholics didn’t “invent” opposition to contraception—the Church is simply the largest body that never abandoned the historic Christian teaching.

As you well know and practice often the actual text is not always explicit. That’s the reason the eunuch needed phillips help. You need to stop using proof text and look at it as a whole like where God clearly said, be fruitful and multiply. But let’s look at the church before Marvin came along.

@MarvinMediocre @sola_chad Well, then, thousands of years of church teaching down the drain because Marvin mediocre chimed in. Hey Marvin, you ever thought about why every denomination until like 1960 rejected all forms of contraception and only the Catholic Church persists?

@bt4liberty @sola_chad The sin in Gen 38 was not contraception. It was deliberate and rebellious rejection of the duty to marry a relative’s widow, called a levirate marriage.

@BillyRFCmcf @sola_chad Followers of every faith do, that’s not the point I’m talking about what does your particular denomination allow for? The Catholic Church has a very defined definition of prohibition against abortion.

So Candace Owens lied? Gee, nobody is shocked. It’s not an email. It’s obvious it’s a typed out word document. Klandace has the dumbest viewers. Anytime someone tells me they watch her show, I know they are literally retarded and I lose respect for them.
