💜 * THE LURKER'S GUIDE TO TWITCH * 💜 Hey you! Yes, you! Are you tired of not earning channel points? Want to make sure you count as a viewer while watching (or lurking at) your favourite streamer? Well here's everything I do to make sure that my view counts! * Don't overextend yourself ⭐ By that, I mean don't try and watch/lurk in more than two streams at a time. This may sometimes work but Twitch specifically doesn't want you doing that. So yes, you will unfortunately need to play favourites sometimes... * Keep that video player active 📺 This means making sure that the video is playing (even at 140p) and making sure that it has volume (even 1% counts!). I have not tested whether muting the browser tab still works, but this used to work in the past. * Re-engage after a raid ⚔ If you raid into a channel, you may not count as an active viewer until you interact with the channel in at least some way. Simply refreshing the browser is usually enough, but throwing out that raid message works just fine too, or using a channel redeem! * Disable ad blocker on Twitch 🚫 I only recently discovered people even use it on Twitch. This is a hard no-no, even if it isn't blocking any ads. Make sure whatever ad blocker you're using is disabled on the entire site, or they'll hunt you down for sport 👀 * When all else fails... un-lurk 💬 Sometimes Twitch is just stubborn. Use a channel redeem, throw out a !lurk, just interact with the channel in some way (after refreshing the tab and making sure to have followed all the other steps as well, of course) and you'll be counting as a viewer again in no time. A rule of thumb (as in, not guaranteed) is that if you're earning channel points from watching (not chests!), you're counting as an active watcher. BONUS TIP: Twitch's live view count is NOT accurate (in both directions) for a variety of reasons so never read too much into it. True viewer count can only be seen in the post-stream summary. ...but hey, this is all just how I understand things, so you do you man. ☕
