Indonesia has bombed a West Papuan village in Puncak and killed at least one innocent schoolchild. Deris Kogoya, 18, was executed by a rocket attack from a helicopter while riding his motorbike. His friend Jemi Waker was severely injured and cannot go to hospital because he fears he will be killed. This reminds me of my childhood, when my village was bombed and massacred by Indonesian military. The indiscriminate bombing of West Papuan villages is increasing under the war criminal Prabowo. How many Papuan children must Indonesia kill before the world puts a stop to this genocide? Why does the world care about bombs dropping in Ukraine or the Middle East, but not in West Papua?

More and more evidence of Indonesia using drones on West Papuans. This is the most unequal fight in the world – how can Papuans defend their land against this? These are weapons for a modern war, not villagers. I ask Pacific leaders: if Indonesia used these drones against another Melanesian country, how would you react?
