Look…I’m definitely not defending what he did. But the judicial system is very lopsided when it comes to dishing out punishments or 2nd chances. This young man made a terrible mistake and it cost someone their life in a horrible way. But to keep him locked up longer than 5 years where if he was out and playing again he could do far more good bringing awareness and change for youngsters to make better decisions. Too many examples of people who have committed violent intentional crimes on society and they walk free in no time to continue the same way of life of crime.

This makes no sense. As a minor, unless he was emancipated what he has or doesn’t won’t factor into the financial decision since he is still considered a financial dependent of his parents, meaning it’s dependent on their assets and finances. The parents only saving grace is that the GoFundMe isn’t ‘income’ per se &, instead of purchasing anything (creating assets that can be leveraged), the cars are leased & the house, unless I misunderstood & the terms changed, is a rental. They also seem to have shit through the rest of the money on cruisers, take away & clothing, so their bank accounts are probably close to where they were when this began & can probably qualify.
