Trying something new during independent writing time. I need to be able to prioritize who really needs help with writing conferences instead of the same four kids coming up for help every few minutes.

@DustHansen Have you played with Twine? It's an open-source tool for telling text-based, digital, interactive, non-linear stories. twinery.org Sharing because it sounds like such a cool vehicle to "practice" writing game design narratives.

Today's deeper analysis task: supporting claims with visual context clues and textual evidence. Gamers will spend a few days working collaboratively to support their claims and present their evidence to the class. Learning new skills, one day at a time!

"So, you're just playing a video game in class?" Far from "just playing a video game." We are digging deep into the layers of game development and narrative story within a video game, WHILE playing video games.

Today we learned about color theory and how the video game industry uses those concepts to design certain aspects of games. This purposeful design relates to English skills like establishing tone and mood. We are hooked on ELA and game connections.

Using graphic novel panels to piece together the plot of "The Cask of Amontillado." Thanks Gabbi for the idea! Summer PD in practice.

🐝🎮 So excited to have author and video game developer @DustHansen live and in person! @buda_tonya’s Creating Legends class had the opportunity to work with Dustin today and walk though the creative writing process used in the industry.

Students rated some of the different strategies and protocols we used this week. It was their turn to grade me.

Thanks to a Buy Nothing Group, I was able to grab these fidgets for our classroom! Saved them from a landfill and helping some of our students with sensory tools to help focus their energy/ attention.

It took a good chunk of the day, but I batch planned the next unit for two out of three courses I teach. This method is a life and time saver!
