@ABridgen They're called contrails, Andrew. It's caused by condensation when jet engines exhaust hot water vapour into a cold atmosphere. We don't need another explanation. We know what it is. It's similar to what happens when you breathe onto glass on a cold day.

There's no shortage of aviation fuel when it comes to polluting Europe's skies This was over Portugal a few days' ago. Of course some will say our skies always looked like this, but thats not true is it Perhaps the UK MET office can tell us what sort of ‘clouds’ these are ?
