The Star Tribune is not trustworthy in covering the merits of public policy decisions and evaluating leadership in that public policy, this is a definitive problem

"Occupied" by Palestinian Artist Shatha Safi Shatha is a visual artist & social activist based in Dheisheh Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, with ancestral roots in the village of Jarash, near Jerusalem. Her artistic journey began through self-directed learning, deeply inspired by her heritage, the history of resistance, & the lived memory of her family’s forced displacement during the 1948 Nakba.

Centrist twitter liberals see 100,000 protests against ICE, young people battling ICE in streets, and even the closest thing to a general strike in 80 years and they’re now writing shit like “why won’t college kids protest Donald Trump”

Uncommitted argued the Biden/Harris position on Gaza was alienating key constituencies and could lose Dems the election. They were trying to use the primary process to push for change so Dems could win. They were proven 100% right. You were proven 100% wrong. Respectfully, STFU.
tré easton@treeaston

Respectfully, this sort of undercuts the whole stated purpose of the Uncommitted effort. If you recognize that your movement only appreciably advances under one party, you expend your energy getting that party into power and pushing it, not undermining it in the eyes of voters.

Biden supporters pretending the Biden administration, local police and so called liberal school presidents didn't go HAM on any student whispering against Israel to result in this current decimation of protest is quite the acrobatic mind feat.
Sam Stein@samstein

Biden's presidency was tormented by campus protests over Israel's war in Gaza and his reluctance to push back on it. They shadowed him at events Those protests have been virtually nonexistent with Trump amid the war in Iran. @Lauren_V_Egan looks into why thebulwark.com/p/the-campus-p…

@Gebo___ The smart way is to end the burning and work aggressively toward zero waste, and to increase the landfill to not sacrifice my kids to garbage burning. - If it’s smart for the rest of Hennepin county to not expose their kids to garbage burning, why is that not smart for me?

@Gebo___ The implication that the status quo line is the smart way to do it is where im challenging u to think deeper. The status quo is not the best practice or particularly smart and is acutely harmful. We don’t have to prove a comprehensive solution before we stop acute immediate harm

@Gebo___ I'll ask you again, what dump does the ash from the HERC go to now, because there is still landfill after my children are exposed to the trash burning. And, I'm not sure why you think its acceptable for you to breath that in for mostly commercial waste.

@BullyCreative That's why I'm in favor of closing it. I may not have kids, but I live very close to the HERC. I can literally see it from my window as I type this. I just want to make sure there's a plan in place for the 350,000+ tons of trash that is processed there. That’s all.

@eatmyshortsfrey I mean it is a simple equation, as long as their kids don't have to suffer the health effects, it is worth the calculation. Its shameful for everyone in Hennepin county because that is the truth of the matter.

@BullyCreative God forbid we put anymore trash on top of one of the many 3M created super fund sites around the cities Plus I'm sure there's a st cloud landfill owner dying for a new contract. It's so goddamn easy to just not burn trash but they refuse to do it and navel gaze like this

I’m all for closing the HERC but there needs to be an alternative dump site first. We can’t just close down the HERC with no real plan for where to put the trash. 365,000 tons of trash needs to go somewhere.
Andrew Hazzard@ATHazzard

Happening Now: residents begin hunger strike demanding Hennepin County Commissioners vote to close the HERC trash incinerator. “We have tried every channel available,” striker Natasha Villanueva said. “Now we escalate.”
