Yesterday against a Gold Coast Suns midfield with Matt Rowell, Noah Anderson & Christian Petrecca, Hawthorn co-captain Jai Newcombe finished the game with 30 possessions (20 contested 👀 ), 12 clearances, 7 score involvements, 6 tackles & 2 goal assists 👏 👏
After a 💪 2023-2025, Newcombe hasn’t slowed down in 2026, putting up 🔥 numbers & he’s doing it without a quality number two or three like the other top teams have.

Since being drafted by the Hawks with pick 2 in the 2021 mid-season draft 😳, Newcombe has become one of the most consistent midfielders in the AFL and a key reason the Hawks are currently 6-1 & one of the 🏆 favourites this season.
He’s still only 24 and will only get better, especially if the likes of Josh Ward (22), Cam Mackenzie (22) and Connor MacDonald (23) continue to improve and develop. Don’t forget the rerun of Will Day (24) 🤞
It’s early days in season 2026 but let’s
hope “Newc” continues to dominate and earns his first All-Australian selection. It will be well deserved!
