During one of the worst losing streaks of my career, our team president walked into my office. Keli McGregor. One of the best men I've ever known. He could have come to vent. To question my decisions. To ask hard questions. Instead, he said: "Cut to the chase, Clint. What's next?" I looked him in the eye and gave him two words: "Shower well." The Colorado Rockies were struggling badly that year. Pregame preparation was solid. Scout meetings, early work, attention to detail. All of it was there. But at game time, the tires were flat. I told Keli: the game did everything it could to us today. We just couldn't meet its demands. Now it was time to reset. "Shower well" means exactly this: • Watch the frustration circle down the drain • Shampoo, rinse, repeat and get the grime of today completely off your mind • Walk out clean, go home, and actually rest Leave it at the ballpark. The game is over. There's nothing left to solve tonight. Keli nodded. Asked if he could share it with the whole organization. I said sure. And then it hit me. This isn't just for baseball. Bad day at the office. Grumpy boss. Missed deadline. Traffic on the way home. You can carry all of that through your front door. Or you can shower well. I've never seen a single problem get better because someone dragged it home with them. The reset is a discipline. Same as preparation. Same as showing up. Either we win. Or we learn. The only real loss? When you don't take a single thing out of a hard day. So tonight, whatever kind of day it was, shower well. Tomorrow is a new at-bat. What does your reset look like? I'd love to hear it.

[New Blog Post: The Designer & The Worker (Lessons from Ray Dalio's, Principles)] "It's up to you to connect what you want with what you need to do to get it and then find the courage to carry it through. Most people don't spend enough time as the designer, and as a result, they operate emotionally and in the moment. Consequently, their lives are a series of undirected emotional experiences, going from one thing to the next." taylorburns.ca/blog/lessons-f…

It is pretty rich that some Oilers fans deride us for not asking enough tough questions and then jump on a media guy for asking Connor a Q about the timeline with NHL stars to win. Spec knows it’s hard. Connor said as much. Listen to whole clip.

X/Twitter has become more interesting over the years…. If someone does something nice or good for the world it gets very little attention. No one can acknowledge any good in this world. Only negativity gets more attention. If you have an opinion on something people need to get personal. It’s always like 80% of the people wake up & go on this app to spread more hate because they can’t find it in them to enjoy life. It’s ok to have opinions & debate but to go on the straight personal level is quite something. @BizNasty2point0 @ryanwhitney6 @MikeGrinnell_ & rest of the crew at @spittinchiclets go over to @netflixsports because they are trying to be more successful it gets people hating on them. There podcast is the Golden Standard & it’s hard to come close to their podcast. We had Biz on our podcast once & he’s also done a few special videos to boost up the kids we work with in our Minor Hockey Foundation. It’s just sad when you go out of your way to create something that’s important to you, that’s passionate to you & successful for you it still comes back at you in a way of hate by 80% online. @HockeyCanada makes their roster selections & make it to a Gold Medal game because they brought the right players to Italy & people still get upset because one of their players isn’t there. It’s pretty clear with the amount of success Cooper & his coaches have, then you have the success of Armstrong & his staff has had in hockey these incredible hockey minds know a thing or two about hockey vs those watching from him who want to be that Armchair GM. Let’s trust the process. @DarrenDreger is just trying to do his job & be helpful to make sure the right information on Sidney Crosby is out there so fans can understand what is actually happening vs what isn’t happening because an online doctor has to act like he knows 100% of happened to Crosby by watching it on TV. 8 years ago when this podcast was started the account of hate & people saying you can’t do this, it won’t work out was there. Then when it became what it is today people still hate & It’s because they live unfulfilled life so that’s all they got is to be negative instead of supporting or grateful because you are doing something you love. It makes you happy & it helps with your own mental health. The hateful comments only add more fuel to be more positive & do things that make others happy. If you think we are going to delete our account or our podcast because you can’t enjoy life then you are wrong. The hateful comments on here only prove more of a point that this app has more negative people vs positive people. We challenge everyone that as an account on here to go do something nice or positive for someone about 3 times a day & you’ll see how much more enjoyable your life gets. You won’t have to come on here to let your negative thoughts come out because you see something you don’t agree with or you see someone come successful so instead you need to be negative towards them. Go enjoy life more, spend more time with your family & friends…maybe go for a walk, find a hobby or find a nice church. Have a blessed day, have a grateful day & enjoy the Gold Medal game.
