This statue of Zimbabwean hero and late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo is an insult to the memory of Father Zimbabwe and everything he stood for. I know that incompetence runs riot inside ZANUPF, but doing this to one of our founding fathers is an unforgivable insult.
Surely you cannot tell me that there are men and women who looked at this and signed it off as work done. This is a stain on Baba Nkomo’s illustrious fight against oppression. Mediocrity has reached shocking levels.
This is not just about a statue, it is about respect, history, and national dignity. You do not honour a giant of the liberation struggle with something that looks careless, rushed, and devoid of pride. You honour him with excellence, because that is what he represented.
What this shows is a deeper crisis, a collapse of standards, a culture where anything passes, where accountability is nonexistent, and where those entrusted with preserving our national heritage have no sense of responsibility.
If we cannot even get something as symbolic as this right, what does it say about everything else that is being done behind the scenes?

@bxllyville It’s definitely not your Beverly Hills, Hollywood area standard but that’s your typical American suburban middle class area and not a hood. You can google areas like O Block and see what a hood looks like.

English

@bushmantee Mate those houses would not pass for a middle density surbub in Zimbabwe. You find these houses in Msasa, Queensdale, Chadcombe etc. surely this is not a privileged surbub either.

@JackPhakathi1 @SundayTimesZA Again, my point flew over you. Am not arguing against her getting the tender, but my argument is what her house and her child school have to do with this?
English

A woman who lives in an RDP house and sends her child to a no-fee school was awarded a R95m water tanker contract by the City of Tshwane. Read the staggering expose in the #SundayTimesZA tomorrow

@begottensun Can I have your constructive criticism on this documentary I made.

@iAmKudaMaynard Journalism the “profession” not the “form”. Journalism & broadcasting as a form has changed lives and it is at its peak. I may agree on the writing part.
English

Truth is, journalism is dying. There is a jobs genocide in the industry. I went from just a normal reporter to needing to learn photo, video, and production because there were no jobs for a one dimensional writer anymore. It helped keep me employed. By the time I restarted my career in the UK - it was multimedia that got me ahead. The landscape has changed so much - and with content creators passing off drivel as news, there isn’t much hope. I am lucky that I have always reinvented myself every few years. Never staying as one type of journalist. Because I knew the bills needed paying and the industry was changing fast. However. This is a touching read. Moreso because there were times when I was in the same scenario. @BoiManyowa knows the days of Uber Eats and Amazon Flex to keep the lights on. That was brutal. I had a plan. But for a while, this was our life. Painful and familiar read this.

@begottensun There’s room for people to localize some of these existing apps.

Good morning. Ai agents have democratised app development. They will keep getting better. Heads up:
Zimbabwe does NOT need another Taxi Hailing App
Tinder and Grindr already work in Zim and therefore does NOT need another dating app.
Zim doesn’t need an alternative to AirBNB or Bookings
Just cos you can doesn’t mean you should build your “idea” unless you have a real use case and business behind it.
Before you prompt your version of UberEats, first get all the restaurants to sign up, get your logistics in order … the app is NO Longer the bottleneck. It’s now the cheapest part.

@Shadaya_Knight It’s a great thing, actually X has made me realise why segregation is necessary sometimes. As for you that won’t be good for your X hustle because your reach would be limited.
English

X (Twitter) the "global" square is apparently developing a feature to filter posts by continent, what's next filter by race? Every sane person can see what's happening, how about they just say we don't want Africans on this platform. Every "feature" if you observe it has to do with limiting or censoring Africans.
English

@bayhaus I guess we are not going to come to an agreement but I hope one day you’ll understand the power of perception & the dangers of fueling such stereotypes.
English

@bushmantee I am not easily offended by any of that, it comes from the same place of people whoare attacking Learnmore for jokes he makes about the country. Who do you think is responsible for the biggest stereotypes about Zimbabweans. Learnmore is just an easy target. So are Zims in SA
English

Naah he is a comedian let him be. I dont understand why you would refer to him as a kid. He is a grown man. If you have a problem with a Zimbabwean making "Zimbabweans look stupid", then you might have to direct your gripe to the ones making us really look stupid...
larry kwirirayi ✍📔@kwirirayi
I want to put it out there. Learnmore Jonasi is a nice kid. Full disclosure I have asked him for an interview and he has chosen not to. But this is not an issue. My gripe with him is has an enthusiasm for making Zimbabweans look stupid. He has better material. He should do that. I disagree with Lebo M that he is a wannabe. I just wish he didn't sacrifice us for his fame.
English

@bayhaus I’m seeing you have an SA flag on your username & you probably live there. Tell me you haven’t heard the stereotypes, “Zimbos smell” “Zim is a shithole” etc. Then you have this guy going on international platforms & exaggerating our situation. It’s a NO.
