Today, we heard from Felecia, a single mom of four who works up to three jobs at a time to make ends meet. She counts on SNAP to help put food on the table.
This is who Republicans in Congress are trying to take food away from.
Listen to her story.
@pivot_tables@JFinYYC@onrebrofo@parody_ceo Definition of corporate drones here. Think only in terms of time as it relates to freedom, but can’t fathom the freedom of thought or creativity that comes with entrepreneurship. 🤷♂️
Unless something crazy comes up during due-diligence, asking for a price reduction is an utter embarrassment.
You want $30k off the price because the roof is old?
You knew it was a 2001 building when you made the offer.
Asking for $10k for parking lot fixes?
You walked the site before you signed the contract.
Don’t bother asking.
Just send over the termination.
Goodbye.
@BobSheranko@pivot_tables In my opinion the easiest solution is to account for life expectancy in everything. When social security and the 30y mortgage were introduced, life expectancy was like, 60. Now it’s nearly 80. That’s an incredible financial burden on the economy when the full retirement age is 65
I understand that pregnant women CAN work. And that some women WANT to work while pregnant. But I firmly believe we should be providing paid maternity leave to everyone (6 mos min, hell give them a year)
@pivot_tables@BobSheranko In other words, issues with maternity & paternity leave are symptoms of an unhealthy society/economy. So there is no fix other than to change society/economics as a whole.
@pivot_tables@BobSheranko Ultimately the economics of society have moved beyond its governance. Post Great Depression, post WWII policies (social security, the 30yr mortgage, etc) are massive failures in the modern age. Adjust governance to match modern economics and you’ll solve the problem.
Even if you 100% support the tariffs and believe they will eventually lead to historic successes for the U.S., you have to acknowledge that if you don’t pause the tariffs in the interim phase, you are going to wreck the economy to a level and scale that would takes *years* to recover from.
China and the U.S. should both announce a pause to any tariffs. And then set a timeline for negotiations.
You can’t set your house on fire while you try to renegotiate your fire insurance rates.
That’s just now how this works.
@iAnonPatriot If I were the ceo of Starbucks, I would invest heavily in automation. Then I would invest heavily in a circus, so the talent doesn’t go to waste.
@ChrisDJackson He’s an egomaniac obsessed with his brand. If he was going to do something as bad as you think he is, wouldn’t he have done it in his first term?
Understand what this is: If Kash Patel and Donald Trump don’t like a judge, they think they can arrest them. This is stunning — we must stand up to this blatant power grab.
Republicans: How is this not a red line for you?
