@buzzcutluvr @PanderShirts Seems like an accidental or incidental joke, given JLD just says the word that way naturally. I guess it's a quirk of geography how Americans see it as posh to say French foods properly, but dumb to say Spanish/Mexican words wrong.

its cause everyone over here is taught to pronounce it soonami, if you pronounce it like "tsu" people are gonna look at you like you're super performative and crazy. its like saying croissant in a french accent, you look like a douche

I don't get why English speakers struggle so much with the "tsu" sound. It's literally the same as in the word "sports". It's not like they pronounce it "spors" like how they say "soonami"

@ItsAndyRyan @PanderShirts i think both are true! the fact that she's describing something very vulgar (using croissant as a dildo) contrasts her pronouncing it with a proper french accent, something an average american viewer would consider posh

@buzzcutluvr @PanderShirts I argued with someone here who said Veep having her say croissant the French way is a joke about her character. I said it's more likely just because her dad was French and half the creators and writers on the show were Brits.
