Looking to get back into the missile/rocket/booster manufacturing game. If anyone knows of any truly interesting engineering roles anywhere in the US post it here, thank you!

Quoting parts can be difficult when it takes a team of people to look at it & give their input. From my experience very few engineers can take a print, make the tooling, program the part, inspect it, train an operator, etc. The older guys in the industry have no interest training the younger guys so all that knowledge goes in the grave or out the door. Hadrian is working because they can capture that knowledge & provide the very best machine tools & software to help, I don’t know of any shops around me that have that mindset. It’s tough finding or developing really talented engineers these days.

Proposal to build a facility to manufacture MK72, MK82, MK84 and other similar products is ready to be discussed with any VC or private investor. These products are being depleted and our national security depends on having multiple reliable vendors to supply them.

4 drop dial indicators mounted and set with a master are hoisted over the booster case. The machinist would then adjust a series of set screws until a happy medium is achieved and allow quick installation into a lathe or mill turn machine steady rest & chuck for final machining.

In booster production the thin walls of the tube need to be aligned along the center axis sufficient enough for precision finish machining to remove the appropriate amount of material. This fixture allows the machinist to quickly, accurately and repeatedly accomplish this.

@Tomy_cn Perhaps this will lead to more design for manufacturing input instead, more nuanced but valuable for not only printing but machining as well.

@mkadnk Yup I agree with that, once it becomes a 2-3 custom jaw part it just gets frustrating, especially at that quantity. Great looking part, we need more of this on X.

@bvahnee yeah, quality of 3, but first time I ever saw the part. To be honest, if I had a 4th axis this wouldn't have been that difficult. I swear 5 axis milling takes less skill than 3-axis.

Sometimes a part requires a sacrificial jig to make an impossible feature possible. Quarter for scale.
