"Get back to the traditional way of golf and playing."
Patrick Reed describes the moment he realized he wanted to return to the PGA Tour.
"But it was one of those that, when I was over there in Dubai and playing, I really was just kind of sitting back and realizing that I wanted to get back and not only join back on the PGA Tour but you know, get back to the traditional way of golf and playing. You know, when I’m standing there in Dubai that Saturday, the entire range is full and the guys start disappearing and you’re the last man on that tee box. And then you’re walking to the tee and you’re the last name announced, and you’ve lost the lead because someone is 5-under thru 8."
"You know, all those just rushes and scenarios kind of going back into playing golf that way. Where you’re going out there and the battles between not just yourself but the other guys on the leaderboard. For me, I wanted that back, I wanted that adrenaline back and those feelings, especially with the way I played those last three weeks, but really there in Dubai."
Nope. Decision to play in New York, refusal of USA players and US media to condemn the crowd behaviour begs the question does this biennial event need that extra edge to keep it in the spotlight. So was Rory right all those years ago, is it a glorified exhibition match that allows mega billionaires like JP to collect trinkets for his home track or is it really that important to a golfers legacy. Phil signed a new club deal before a Ryder cup and had no control of his golf ball. Is his legacy as one of the game’s greats tarnished in any way. Nope.
🚨🇺🇸😳 #EMBARRASSING — Butch Harmon sounds off on American fans at The Ryder Cup, saying it prompted him to pull out from planned broadcast work.
“I thought the Ryder Cup was disgusting. It was embarrassing being an American. I love the Ryder Cup, it’s my favourite one to broadcast and being from New York, I had planned to work with the Sky Sports team. But I decided to pull out for that main reason. I felt we would spend more time talking about what’s going on in the gallery with the fans being unruly than we would the golf and I just didn’t feel I wanted to be part of it.
“I hated the way things were going at the Ryder Cup. I thought it was a terrible embarrassment for the United States, and let’s hope it never happens again.”
“This is the beauty of Augusta. These are the best behaved patrons in all of golf. I love the Open Championship because all the gallery people understand golf and they understand how to cheer. But this place, it’s like a holy grail of golf in the US, and it’s difficult to get a ticket to come. It’s probably the hardest event to get a ticket to. The patrons there are very well behaved, because they’re the same people that come back year after year.”

@Lea_EFC Stop the hero worship, there are two sides to football, with the ball attack, without the ball defend, awesome potential but Real exposed real defensive deficiencies.
The way Nico O'Reilly dummies both £35m Salah and £79m Ekitike, turns £60m Szoboszlai, turns £34m Gravenberch, turns £60m Szoboszlai again then sends £116.5m Wirtz for a hotdog 🌭😂😂
Toying with £384.5m worth of Liverpool players 😂
Where did 11 minutes injury time come from for a home team losing 2-0, and zero (yes zero) injury time minutes in City/Pool for a home team winning 4-0. Fletcher and McCoist more interested in Dyer than calling out what was really in front of them. Safety officer was down to take the 12th penalty for hammers. Jesus wept 😤
@MTownsendGolf 1. Phil from the trees to a green a country mile away over water. Outrageous courage and skill. Risk/reward paid handsomely.
2. Jack’s final round putt on 17 for birdie on charge in 1986. Son on bag. Iconic moment is sport. 40 years ago seems like yesterday.
Pick your favourite ever shot at Augusta?
Not the best or your top three, just your favourite stand-alone shot at the Masters
Sandy Lyle, 1988
- the fact his previous shot was a 1-iron
- the Mizuno TP-11 irons (and visor)

I don’t blow my own trumpet as it’s not my style or the style for people from the city of Liverpool, but we are allowed to defend ourselves!
There has only been three CB’s from LFC to make the PFA TOTY in the PL era, VVD, Sami & me!!
The year was 2005/6 when the PL CB’s were…….
@bwhitecma@JohnDugganSport Yeah, you definitely didn't watch McGrath play midfield then. And you didn't understand the original comment regarding our lack of midfield stars now compared to the past. Just leave it.
It’s nights like these when you realize the difference world class players Ronnie Whelan, Paul McGrath and Roy Keane made to the Irish team. The middle of the park doesn’t deliver moments, but can ultimately decide the game.
1. Kenny Dalglish
2. Steven Gerrard
3. Ian Rush
4. Alan Hansen
5. Graeme Souness
6. Mo Salah
7. John Barnes
8. Phil Neal
9. Roberto Firmino
10. Allison Becker
Those omitted, likes of Cally. Hughes, Liddell, Lawler. Hunt etc only out as I didn't see them throughout their careers
@Mike1745343@JohnDugganSport Paul was best in class defender played in midfield to suit Jack’s style that bypassed midfield build up play. Paul was not a special midfielder. Special player yes. Are you his @johnduggansport agent? Happy to debate further or whatever way you want to play it from here.
@bwhitecma@JohnDugganSport Maybe it's before your time but Paul was a quality midfielder for us for years. My point about Whelan and Keane stands. He was just talking about special midfielders that we had down the years. I'm sorry if inferred is beyond ya. Dunno what the GAA references are about.
@Mike1745343@JohnDugganSport 37 seconds later not bad Mike. Inferred 🤯. Paul was a defender. GAA lads need to stay in their lane. You are on the clock now, go 😛
@bwhitecma@JohnDugganSport Paul was a brilliant midfielder for us before going to centre half. And he never inferred that Ronnie and Roy played together.
“One word - pain” 🥲
A deflated Heimir Hallgrímsson told the media how proud he was of the Irish fans and players after the penalty loss in Prague ended the World Cup dream 💚
