@thenewarea51 Non towered airports are normal operations for every airline. They are still departing on an IFR clearance and still talking to radar approach and departure controllers, flying published procedures. It’s not like they’re just doing a VFR free for all.

This is such a stupid conversation to have in the year 2026. Why are there multiple airliners trying to depart San Antonio, Texas this morning when the control tower has been abandoned due to the ice storm and they’re asking airport ops for field conditions? This shows you the true arrogance of @AmericanAir & @Delta . It’s one thing if this was a normally serviced airport at an uncontrolled field but this is a Class C airport. I don’t get it, you’re asking for trouble and everything is being recorded.
DCA couldn’t even maintain proper separation between a helicopter and a CRJ 1 year ago and this was in a manned tower cab Class B environment. What are you guys thinking?

That replay makes it even harder to accept. He secures it, gets the knee down, and only then does the ball come loose. By the rulebook, that should be a catch every time. Bills fans have every right to be furious because plays like that swing seasons. When slow motion still cannot fix it, something is broken with the process.
English

@OtsukimiOtsu @NFLFrascella All these people posting a still frame as if that establishes that he has control of the ball. It moves around in his hands as he hits the ground, so just like the rules analyst said “he didn’t survive the ground.” If the McMillan doesn’t come up with it, it’s incomplete.
English

@NFLFrascella Didn’t have full control.
No football move.
Right call ✅

@DraftDiamonds @Realrclark25 @NYSportsBiz A still frame doesn’t show the ball moving around in his hands

@danorlovsky7 If you want fewer penalty yards, the DBs should probably avoid grabbing the arms of the receivers before the ball arrives.

@HendonTrey @gif_tannen It was an ice storm, Rick Barnes brought pizza to us crazy idiots who were camping outside GIA. Still a wild crowd inside though, even if not full.
English

@bwr07 @gif_tannen The 3OT game actually wasn’t a sellout, not even close if I remember. It was during a smaller ice storm so kept a lot of people away

I think about the 48–46 game a lot.
Not just because of the way it ended — Bug hitting the game-winner, Kelvin losing his mind and sprinting onto the court to protest, or the fact that hoops meant so much back then that students lined up eight hours before a Big Monday tip just to pack the lower level of GIA.
It’s because we had no clue that the next two years were going to be moments like that on repeat and the following 20 would be almost void of them.

@MCCCANM @Kalifornia4Cruz And then there are days like last week when I spent I got there at 930am and spent less than 3 minutes in security. Same goes for any airport. I’ve found the slowest security to be at midsize airports like CVG, MCI, and BNA.
English

@Kalifornia4Cruz It’s insane even at 05:00 when I get in from a redeye. Security lines are already out of control.

Much of the time, for *some airports* (not ATL), this is probably true; you might be able to plan less time to get to the airport.
There is, however, going to be at least one time in your life – probably more – where it isn’t true.

The common advice to arrive at the airport two hours early is outdated. Modern airports push through more people in less time. Airport security just isn't that slow anymore. You can arrive with much less spare time and you'll be fine.

@thenewarea51 Not sure if serious. ATL isn’t the prettiest, but by far the most efficient airport in the country, and the newly renovated areas are actually pretty nice. The McNamara terminal at DTW is one of the nicest in the country.
English

I don’t understand this, Dulles is one of the most iconic airports in America. Just get rid of those stupid people movers and put in a underground rail system that is semi functional. This airport is the living legacy of Eero Saarinen. You wanna revamp something, fix ATL, DTW, and MDW which are sewer pits.

The Broncos winning their first Superbowl was probably the greatest sports moment of my life.
Breaks my heart that now this rich mofo who made millions of dollars playing a damn game can't find it in his cold-ass heart to merely be generous to folks living paycheck-to-paycheck.

What do you all think? #BroncosCountry , do you like keeping new stadium downtown? Do you like having a retractable roof?
Love to hear your thoughts.

This used to be the URL for a story on the @DeptofDefense website about Jackie Robinson's time in the Army. The story has been removed. The ghouls who did this should be ashamed. Jackie Robinson was the embodiment of an American hero. Fix this now. defense.gov/News/Feature-S…

@GrinningNumpty @challengerST @Aviation_Intel Published circling MDA would typically be lower than a VFR pattern altitude, but in clear conditions, flying it higher than the published mins, ie at VFR pattern altitude is a good technique to set up for a more stable final approach.
English

@challengerST @Aviation_Intel Thanks for the detail. Assuming circling altitude would be pattern altitude?
English

Key questions:
1.) Does the helicopter route, including its max altitude block, intercept the glideslope or very near to it for Runway 33?
2A.) If yes, why does this exist and why wasn't there extreme vigilance to deconflict aircraft when 33 is in use?
2B.) If no, was the helicopter too high or the plane too low, or a mix of both?
These are the critical questions we are asking at this time.
