I had an amazing time at the @SCGenSociety Genetic Genealogy Conference this past weekend. Attended some informative presentations and was honored to be a speaker and DNA consultant. Enjoyed meeting and talking with some really great people. #Genealogy #geneticgenealogy

These are my AncestryDNA results that were updated back in August. I'm posting here bc I enjoy going back through my media and seeing the differences with each update throughout the year. I wish I had screenshots of my original results from many yrs ago.

@HenryLouisGates In 1918, he changed his name and moved to MS where he met my great grandmother. My grandfather was born Dec 1919. My great grandfather married another woman in 1919, had 5 children, and became Sheriff of his small town in MS. / End

@HenryLouisGates My grandfather took his mother’s surname and he had no father listed. Found his father through DNA. His father was born to German parents in St Louis where he was raised. In his early 30s, he “got into some trouble” & was said to be on the side of the law. /1

For those who have done/doing a #OnePlaceStudy on an asylum/institution did you choose a particular timeframe or census return and researched those at that specific time? or did you do the entire timeline in complete detail? #OnePlaceWednesday #LocalHistory #Genealogy

@MiningthePast @DLGenealogist I became interested in genealogy when I was a kid in the early 80s and my cousin wrote two books on my maternal grandmother’s line. I started asking my grandparents and great grandmother questions about their past. However, I didn’t start digging into records until 1998.
