I was talking to a VC investor a little while ago. He said… “how’s your business faring now the whole creator economy hype has died down?” I was a little surprised… Hype? Died down? I told him my business had basically doubled in revenue every year since 2019. I also said: As far as I’m concerned creators (mainly YouTubers) are doing better than ever. Every week I see a new YouTuber-founded business popping up. YouTube ad rates have been great this year (for most niches). In fact some of my clients have had 10-20% increases vs previous highs. Brand deals are pouring back in after a slow start to the year. It was at this moment I realised that what the investor market sees as the creator economy… and what the creator economy actually is… are often very different! Ignore the hype, keep building. Creator businesses are taking over.
