Most founders expect a brand project to start with logo options.
It doesn't. Not in the way I work.
Before anything visual happens, there's usually a 60-minute strategy session. Here's what we actually cover:
— Who is this brand talking to, specifically? Not "enterprises" or "developers", a real person, with a real problem, in a real context.
— What does this company believe that its competitors wouldn't dare say?
— What does success look like in 3 years, and does the current brand help or hinder that?
— Where does the brand need to work hardest: investor decks, product UI, conference stages, or social media?
The answers shape everything, naming, visual direction, tone, and messaging hierarchy.
By the time we open a design file, there's no guesswork. The brief writes itself.
That's the difference between a brand that looks good and one that actually works.
A lot of early-stage AI and SaaS companies don’t necessarily have a design problem. They have a clarity problem disguised as a design problem.
And fixing that changes the quality of every design decision afterward.

The easiest thing in brand design is making every AI company look the same.
I’ve never been interested in easy.
ParchAI. SigmaAI. MetricAI.

Right now, most AI brands follow the same visual language: gradients, geometric patterns, safe sans-serifs, polished-but-generic systems.
The brands that actually stand out are usually the ones willing to move away from that.
Every project starts with the same question:
“What makes this company different, and what visual language honestly reflects that?”

A logo without strategy is just decoration.
I've worked on enough brand projects to know: the design phase is actually the easiest part. The hard work happens before any visual is created.
Every project I take on starts with a brand strategy document and a mood board. Only after both are approved, I start designing the visual identity.
