The Temple Institute has recently declared that it is time to build the Third Temple in Jerusalem,
"So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand...."
Old Testament Prophecies
Daniel 7:25> And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Note: The Antichrist’s reign of blasphemy, lasting 3½ years, corresponds to the last half of the Tribulation.
Daniel 8:11–12> Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. Note: The daily sacrifices in the rebuilt Temple will be stopped, showing that a physical Temple exists.
Daniel 9:27> …and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate…Note: This is the key prophecy of the midpoint of the 70th week of Daniel (the Tribulation), when the Antichrist desecrates the Temple.
Daniel 11:31> …and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
Daniel 11:36–37> And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god…Note: The king here is the Antichrist, matching Paul’s description in 2 Thessalonians.
Daniel 12:11> And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up…Note: Links the stopping of sacrifices to the abomination event.
New Testament Prophecies
Matthew 24:15> When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place…
Note: Jesus warns of a future event in a literal “holy place” — the inner sanctuary of a future Temple.
Mark 13:14> But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation…standing where it ought not…
2 Thessalonians 2:3–4> …that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God… so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Note: The clearest New Testament statement of the Antichrist in the Temple.
Revelation 11:1–2> …measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out… for it is given unto the Gentiles…
Note: John sees a functioning Temple during the Tribulation.
Revelation 13:14–15> …saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast… and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Note: The Antichrist sets up an image (likely in the Temple) and demands worship.
Revelation 14:9–11 > …If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark…Note: Reinforces the worship system tied to the desecration.
1. There will be a rebuilt Jewish Temple (3rd Temple) in Jerusalem during the Tribulation.
2. Daily sacrifices will resume — then be stopped at the midpoint.
3. The Antichrist will enter the Holy of Holies and declare himself to be God.
4. An image of the beast will be set up for enforced worship.
