We need you, Max. NBA Prescription Play #1 🏀 Max Strus o8.5 Points (-120) Max Strus 15+ Points (+425) Max Strus 20+ Points (+1420) I. Know. My. Cavs. Show love if tailing❤️Write-up⬇️ There is a big chance he starts over Dean Wade here. Im a big Dean guy but Detroit is forcing switches to get him off of Cade so his defensive boost no longer balances his lack of offensive involvement. Cavs kryptonite has been allowing points off turnovers and Detroit helping off of Wade in the gaps has only made that worse. Putting Strus in for spacing while also having his role defending Cade does lower that risk. Lastly, Duncan came off the bench last game for Detroit. If that continues, then Jenkins likely defends Harden and they put Cade on Strus/Wade. Cavs want to make Cade waste as much energy as possible throughout the game and keeping Wade in will bail them out. Scheme wise, there is two effects of Strus. One is that is spacing opens up Mobley in the short roll, something the Pistons got killed by in Game 5. So either it makes Detroit collapse early and Strus is wide open on the weakside. Or Cavs get good ball movement in 4v3 if Detroit helps late and Strus can still be open. The other effect is Strus as the screener. Detroit is a team that switches, but they do show resistance when it is Harden/Mitchell and try NOT to switch if they can help it. Strus' quick release as a slip screener can be huge in those moments of hesitation of whether Detroit wants to switch those Non-big screens or not. Strus averages 10 3PA per 36 with the core 4 on the floor. I think he has to see 30+ minutes here.
