This is all about different forms of long term investment. From young people, teachers ducking and weaving (making miracles happen), artists giving themselves & funders. As the theatre company bringing it together, we are the caretakers of that investment. After that, it's easy.

@clarered A monocultural making space can be different. I.e a making space led by a specific artist/group. Staffing levels, sure. High margin incomes streams via activity, definitely. Location, vital. Big move to artists running their own spaces, despite what’s going on. Heartening.

The business models for running a cultural venue really dont work any more do they? I suspect they never did but when you pay people fairly and also make necessary investments in systems and infrastructure they REALLY DON'T.

This week we hosted our second Hypothesis retreat of 2023 - @WhitingOn gathered a group of artists together to reframe parenting/caring and creativity - the blueprint for The Mothership! was drawn. Excellent to burst open the devising space like this. Brilliant stuff.

@TheStage @LordsCommsCom Not to be glib (BUT) when the lead image features seemingly a mobile phone based headset from circa 2015 it sort of gets the ball rolling for the lack of understanding (huge power imbalance) of this topic. We can share our expertise, but will really be heard?
