I started trading in 2022. For the first year, I traded only personal accounts. I wasn't consistently profitable, but I refused to quit. In mid-2023, I bought my first prop firm challenge. I passed it and got funded in just five weeks through strict discipline. Ironically, I lost that funded account within the same week. Not because my strategy stopped working. But because I became obsessed with getting my first payout as quickly as possible. That was my biggest lesson. From 2023 until May this year, I went through one of the toughest seasons of my trading journey. I remember crashing out on a space ending last year with @CableAnalyst. I bought multiple prop accounts. Some I lost in Phase 2. Some I lost with just 0.5% left to get funded. Every time, I wanted to blame the market. But eventually, I had to face the truth, I was the problem. It got to a point that you just can't afford to repeat those silly mistakes again 😪. I just had to go all in with the démon in me. So I stopped searching for a new strategy and started working on myself. I doubled down on studying. I refined my system. I became more mechanical. I learned to detach from individual trades and trust my process instead of my emotions. That shift changed everything. Last month, by the grace of Allah, I got funded again. It didn't feel special because I knew I have been in that position 3 years ago and couldn't get payout. I received my first prop firm payout😢. Then I passed another challenge and got funded again. What I spent almost two years chasing started happening within a single month. This journey has taught me something I'll never forget: The market rewards discipline more than it rewards intelligence. I'm nowhere near where I want to be. I haven't arrived. I'm still learning. I'm still making mistakes. I'm still growing. That's exactly why I'm going to document this journey here, the wins, the losses, the lessons, and everything in between. My goal is simple for the year is simple,I want to scale my funded capital to at least $100,000 before the end of the year, by staying disciplined one trade at a time. I came across this today and found it genuinely thought provoking. One thing I’ve come to realize is that emotional intelligence isn’t about always saying the perfect thing. It’s about refusing to make people feel invisible. People can forgive mistakes, misunderstandings, and even disappointments. What they struggle to forget is being dismissed. Consider these examples: ▪️▪️Instead of: “It’s just a birthday. We’re adults now.” Say: “I’m really sorry I missed your birthday. I know birthdays matter to you, and I can imagine it felt like I forgot about you. I genuinely lost track of the date, but I understand why it hurts.” ▪️▪️ Instead of: “I had my own problems. I don’t owe anyone an explanation.” Say: “You’re right. I withdrew when life became overwhelming. I wasn’t avoiding you, but I can see how it felt that way. I’m sorry I left you guessing.” ▪️▪️ Instead of: “You take everything too seriously.” Say: “I thought I was joking, but hearing how it landed with you changes things. I’m sorry. I never wanted to embarrass you.” Did you notice the pattern? The emotionally intelligent response doesn’t deny what happened. It acknowledges the other person’s experience before explaining your own. That’s the difference. If there’s one thing many people dislike, it’s being dismissed. Dismissive words often sound like: ▫️ Your feelings don’t matter. ▫️ You’re overreacting. ▫️ I don’t care enough to understand. Most people don’t need you to agree with them. They simply want to know that you’ve heard them. I understand if these conversations happen between acquaintances. ▫️▪️▫️ But between friends, family, or someone you love? They deserve more than indifference. My mum has a Yoruba saying: “Pẹ̀lẹ́ l’áko, ò l’ábo.” It reminds me that the same message can be communicated in different ways, and the way it’s delivered often determines how it’s received. Even when you’re annoyed, tired, or convinced you’re right, there’s still a way to speak without sounding dismissive, especially to people you care about. ▫️ Nobody expects you to always be available. ▫️ Nobody expects you to have all the answers. ▫️ Nobody expects every joke to land well. But when someone is vulnerable enough to tell you that they were hurt, choose grace over defensiveness. Emotional intelligence isn’t about being perfect.
