After an amazing 4 years on the @PlayOverwatch team at Blizzard, I decided to take a leap into full-time indie development here in Tokyo with my wife.
Super grateful for the experience and memories and so excited for what's ahead! Wish us luck!

Loved the game since beta, competed since 2021 VCT Challengers, worked on Game Analysis, and will now join the design team at Riot Games!

Watchpoint: Gibraltar was attacked in Season 1 of Overwatch and with the attack some things have changed. With this thread I want to share some of the more or less subtle design changes we made on this map. ( 1/4🧵)

@melanji VAL dropped years after FN (and during COVID), positioning it well for fatigued players looking to “graduate” to more hardcore games. There were a tremendous number of FN players, which means they’ll likely be overrepresented in comparable games with similar player motivations.

@melanji I think it's a mix of skill development, age, timing, and numbers.
It's good for learning mechanics and game sense, which are necessary when competing. Players are younger, which is ideal for dedicating lots of time to something due to having few responsibilities.

can we talk about the amt of fortnite players that are insane at valorant? benjyfishy, marteen, meiy, starxo, etc
imo: fortnite is an extremely mechanical game + kids go pro very young + high # of players = success?
still insane tho given how different fortnite is from tacfps

Today is my last day at Blizzard after 10 years of Overwatch in my life
I really wouldn't be who I am without OW and the Esport. My decision to leave is a melancholic necessity that is really hard to swallow. To everyone I've met on this journey, thank you for making it real <3

Working on 3 heroes at once was a blast and it sure was a ton of work.
But I am motivated to wake up and go to work everyday with the team of passionate people, working on the game we love.
