A fantastic few days in Lecce to launch our PIMo project. Thanks to our hosts at beautiful Università del Salento. Was great to develop plans for the next 4 years of the project. We will be tweeting details of the financial support we can offer this afternoon so keep an eye out.

Fantastic keynote from Prof Iain Chambers reminding us that while we cannot speak for migrants we should speak alongside them, we should not simply think about migration but rather we should think with migration about the works we live in.

Excellent introductory keynote from Prof. Giancarlo Casale of @EUI_History on contrasts and commonalities in the sources on mobility between Early Modern European and Ottoman societies.

Final preparations are underway for our launch in Lecce tomorrow. Some great discussions lie ahead, undoubtedly inspired by our keynotes from Prof. Giancarlo Casale of @EUI_History and Prof Iain Chambers of Uni. Of Napoli, L'Orientale. peopleinmotion-costaction.org

Introductions underway from COST members from 27 countries. Such a wide range of scholars- historians of antiquity, medieval, early modern, Enlightenement and 20th century, sociologists, anthropologists and even a psychoanalyst!
