My Star Wars take: Solo was really fun and I’ve rewatched it a half dozen times. Most underrated project in the universe. I’d take it over all three sequel films.

There is an extremely juvenile idea on this app that horror is anything scary or intimidating Darth Vader is a Sci Fi action character, because that’s what genre the series he comes from is

@timAcatsoftpaws If the overwhelming majority loves it then the approach is working. You cant call it shock value while also saying it’s widely praised. “developing what’s already there is better” is your preference not a rule. New characters can serve the story better depending on where its goin

@ca3ino You put way too much stock in that, considering how the overwhelming majority have been adoring the series. Why bring in new characters when you could develop the ones you already have!? That would be better outright. They were all killed for shock value. Not all need to die.

This is actually one of my criticisms. I wish we got to see these guys actually developed instead of being wasted for shock value. It would've been so cool to see them over the course of multiple seasons. Unless the point is to leave Maul alone to strengthen his bond with Devon.

@timAcatsoftpaws “Fine” is still subjective. Ppl already said Maul didn’t get enough focus, so that balance clearly didn’t work for everyone. You can bring in new perspectives without keeping the same cast. If his whole team sticks around, it lowers tension and makes the world feel safe.

@ca3ino The balance was fine. You need other perspectives for the story to work and for new viewers. You can have stakes without killing off EVERY character dude. Maul's entire team is gone.

@timAcatsoftpaws We dont know how the story continues. They can shift focus to Maul and Devon or bring in new characters and keep the balance that way. Keeping the same cast lowers stakes and nothing feels at risk. People complained there wasnt enough Maul so the balance being fine is subjective

@ca3ino Except the pace and balance the show had was completely fine. They could have just kept up with that, developing them in the process. It's literally an ensemble. Lawson and Devon are our primary views into this world for new audiences.

@timAcatsoftpaws More develop isnt automatically better. Thats ur preference but its not what the story needs. Extending every side character pulls focus from Maul and slows the pacing. Its his story a few supporting characters doesnt make it an ensemble The story is still clearly centered on him

@ca3ino Okay why can't they? Wouldn't it be great to see them actually developed instead of being treated as Glup Shitto cannon fodder? It IS quite literally an ensemble already with characters like Devon and Lawson.

@timAcatsoftpaws She served her purpose not every character is meant for a long arc. It’s Maul’s story not an ensemble. But I agree about the way Rook went out

@ca3ino Yeah I don't like the idea that we should just waste these characters like that. Rook Kast especially was done dirty just for Vader's entrance l.

@timAcatsoftpaws Not every character is meant to be long term especially in a story about someone like Maul. Ppl around him being temporary isn’t a flaw, it reinforces that he can’t build lasting alliances and burns through everyone

@ca3ino No? The show was balancing the focus out just fine. Why do we need to replace them? Why can't we develop them more? That would absolutely be better.

@timAcatsoftpaws Development should focus on the main characters. There’s nothing wrong with rebuilding most* of the cast. It doesn’t have to follow the Rebels/CW formula where we keep following the same side characters

@ca3ino Do they? Or should they develop the ones they already have? Because now we have to rebuild the entire cast from the ground up.

a big interconnected universe like Star Wars being treated as campfire stories with Jedis are seen as myths is honestly an incredible way to connect the stories throughout the galaxy Sam Witwer gets it.
