Honoured to have hosted the Kenya Reception for delegates on the sidelines of the 11th PAPU Plenipotentiary Conference in Kampala earlier today. Kenya firmly believes that the future of the postal sector depends on deeper collaboration, stronger partnerships, and more integrated infrastructure. As the sector evolves, our collective efforts must continue to be driven by innovation, inclusivity, and responsiveness to global trends. I took the opportunity to seek support for our re-election to the PAPU Administrative Council for the 2026–2030 term, and to invite delegates to the 2026 Connected Africa Summit, which will be held in Nairobi from 27th to 30th April. The Summit will focus on the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy, covering policy and regulation, infrastructure, digital skills, innovation, trade, and development. Present at the reception were the Secretary General of PAPU, Mr Sifundo Chief Moyo; Mr Chrispine Ogongo of the @CA_Kenya among other senior digntaries and delegates.

The Communications Authority of Kenya [@CA_Kenya] has banned the sale and import of phones and tablets without USB Type-C ports, effective March 24, 2026, with no transition period for compliance. Non-compliant devices will be barred from entry, disrupting low-end and legacy handset supply chains while forcing an immediate shift to standardized charging across the market. businessdailyafrica.com/bd/corporate/t…

@MwangoCapital It is important to note that technical specifications form the basis for the evaluation of new type approval applications for mobile devices, hence do not require a transitional period. ^CG

@MwangoCapital Already, type approved mobile devices that are in shipment and en route to the country or awaiting shipment are not affected by the new requirements. For context, no importation of mobile devices happens without first obtaining type approval from the Authority. ^CG
