So I've been on a bit of a journey the last year or so. So close to getting under 100kg down from 136!, a good week or 2 & I'll be at the 99.9 mark I've been aiming for! The long goal will be roughly 80kg & then just see what happens when I get there! Back to Warhammer tomorrow!

Here we utilised spatio-temporal analysis of high resolution DEMs derived through marine radar imagery. In the paper, we characterise the geomorphological changes over the intertidal zone at various time scales.

Making flowcharts and UML diagrams in diagrams.net for documentation feeling increasingly clunky, cant put a finger on why exactly. Anyone recommend a good free alternative?

@JamesMLea Imagine the screams of all us programmers when no-longer-maintained closed source code that all our apps and infrastructure is built on top of quietly starts to break.
It was a huge engineering challenge to prevent it happening with y2k bug. Much harder now 🫡

Here, a postdoc making £32k/yr costs ~£124,000/yr to a grant. It’s increasing difficult to find funding for PDRA positions longer than two years, which is a huge EDI issue that funders (and universities!) don’t seem to want to hear about.

I explained overhead/F&A to a new graduate student and told them about how a 3yr Postdoc making $70K/yr in fact costs ~$470,000 to a grant and they looked at me like I was from Planet Zork speaking in Zork.
