cathy is quite literally the biblical representation of evil no matter what, no matter why, no mercy and no empathy. why are we trying to make a multifaceted version of a character that is by design not multifaceted.

Last comment before I watch the show: it's impossible to overstate how much of a betrayal of the book it will be if they make Cathy a complicated, sympathetic, wounded character. Flat characters are okay. Cathy is a flat character. She is evil/psychopathic. That's the point.
