One way your neighborhood can increase your wildfire resilience is by forming an NFPA Firewise USA Community. The @Firewise USA® program, is administered by the @NFPA and offers a collaborative framework for communities to enhance their wildfire resilience. This initiative promotes collaborative efforts among residents, local fire departments, and other key stakeholders to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community. Integral to California’s wildfire preparedness strategy, the program is supported by CAL FIRE’s Community Wildfire Preparedness & Mitigation Division. As the State Liaison to NFPA, CAL FIRE is aiding communities in achieving NFPA Firewise Community designation. Firewise communities take collective action to reduce wildfire risk and improve community emergency preparedness. CA's 1938 Fireworks Law named @cal_office as the sole fireworks classification authority. Today, through analysis and testing, OSFM licenses operators, manufacturers, and display companies, ensuring the safe handling and storage of explosives. #CALFIREClassic

🌷🔥 As the flowers bloom and the birds sing, it's also a reminder that wildfire season is year-round. Today marks the #FirstDayofSpring, and while we welcome the warmer weather, it's crucial to start preparing your home for peak wildfire season. Here are some tips to help safeguard your property: * Clear dead vegetation and debris from your yard. * Trim trees and shrubs to create a defensible space around your home. * Clean gutters and roofs of leaves and debris. * Maintain a well-watered lawn and garden. * Have an emergency evacuation plan in place for your family. Remember, preparation is key to reducing the risk of wildfire damage. Stay informed, stay safe, and let's work together to protect our communities. #WildfireSafety #ReadyforWildfire
