It's silly how many people are saying "If the Spurs take the 1 seed, Wemby takes the MVP from SGA." Putting that much weight on seeding is ridiculous. Whether the Spurs finish .5 games in front of or behind OKC shouldn't determine if you're gonna vote for the guy.

I know MVP is just about play, but if we’re talking about “value” as something that includes importance to the sport then there wouldn’t be much of a debate. Wembanyama’s greatness lifts the entire league up. There’s no way to quantify that, but there’s also no way to debate it.

Plenty of reasons for someone other than Wembanyama getting MVP, but “Spurs haven’t done anything yet” / “We have to see the playoffs” is a dumb, bad faith argument for a regular season award. It’s measured in 82 games. Last year’s playoffs literally don’t matter. Non-factor.

If you’re getting a single game scoring record against this Wizards team (in a blowout too) there should be a conversion formula to compare it to other games. Also one Wizard player should be allowed to wield a hammer for a play if you’re still in up 30 with half a quarter left.

Hate that excuse for a player getting ejected for being dumb and pushing it after a first tech. “Officials need to understand the magnitude of the game.” Where’s the line for that? At one point do players need to know it? Doesn’t the first tech shift responsibility to the player?

Significant contact. No extra from Wembanyama on it to sell it. No call. No whining. No technical. Whole game has been like this. It’s on Jaylen Brown for thinking some acting was going to change that.

Honest question: Isn’t it low key better for the Spurs if SGA gets the MVP over Wembanyama? Perfect bulletin board material before the playoffs. Like if Wemby does to the Thunder what Hakeem did to the Spurs when David Robinson got the MVP, it would be perfect. A city could heal.

Truly fascinating watching this guy pander to as many demographics as he can before the Oscars. Never seen anything like it.
