Innovation starts with input. If you’re only consuming content from your niche, you’re recycling, not creating. Look beyond your bubble. Cross-pollination > echo chambers. That’s where originality lives.

@michaelgrowth @PabloMotoa Hey Michael - good to see your name again. I remember way back when May and I spoke with you :) did you happen to watch the episode? I never expect anyone to go beyond just the packaging, but if you do, I always try to share accurate timelines:)

To be clear: - May was also on the Gary Vee team and was responsible for Gary’s massive TikTok growth in conjunction with Caleb. - @RyanMagin took the Hormozi’s from no-one’s to viral sensations, and then the new team (Caleb) took over what was already existing. Not to discredit but also give credit to the true hero’s behind the scenes.

Ok, so this is crazy... There’s this guy who helped Gary Vee grow from 300k to 3.5 million followers on TikTok in just 90 days. And THEN he went on to lead the content strategy for @AlexHormozi and @LeilaHormozi and grew their accounts from 1.2M to 11.5M. His name is @calebralston, and he just went on @jayclouse’s podcast to share 3 strategies you need to use if you're serious about building an audience🧵

Meet Caleb Ralston: the strategist behind the explosive growth of GaryVee and the Hermozis. In this chat w/ @jayclouse, Caleb drops the REAL playbook for creators and brands who want to build something powerful—and sustainable—online. Here's the top 1% secret: it's all about VOLUME. We're talking 300+ pieces of content PER WEEK. Why? Not just to flood feeds, but to gather DATA. Caleb says, "Quality is subjective as fuck. The only people who know what quality is, is your audience." So pump out volume, listen, watch, adapt. The audience tells you what hits. Caleb uses the “accordion method”: start wide, put stuff out, learn, then tighten up and put your best effort into what works. Example: post 14 times a week on Instagram. After a few weeks, cut back to the 7 posts your audience loves, but with more effort per piece. But don't just throw spaghetti at the wall forever. Use intentionality. Caleb's "brand journey framework" has four big questions: What is the outcome I want? What do I need to be known for to get there? What must I do to be known for that? What do I need to learn, starting today? Don't get trapped talking about things you hate just because they get clicks. Reverse engineer your brand from your real goals. How much should you niche down? Platforms reward it, but Caleb warns that turning yourself into a robot obsessed with one topic burns you out—quick. "Brands can show up on social in the exact same way we do in real life," he says. Show different sides. 80% can be your core thing, 20% can be your real-life passions. Example: Joe Rogan’s superfans stay for Joe, not just the topic. What about people starting with no real “results” yet? Caleb says OWN IT—be an "expert learner." Share your journey and your mistakes as you try to master your craft. Vulnerability is magnetic. Repackaging is key. A viral tweet? Turn it into an Instagram post, a short, a long-form video. But don’t literally repost the same thing—platforms hate that. Adapt the FORMAT, keep the message. “All brand is intentional pairing of relevant things done consistently.” Build your content around your preferred medium—video, audio, written, graphic. Find your bottlenecks and hire for those, not just to fill an org chart. Don’t copy big creators’ teams. Reverse engineer based on YOUR strengths. And speaking of teams: Caleb prefers “specialist” team members who are interested in other roles. Early on, people wear many hats—later, let them focus and grow expertise. Don’t expect one person to master every platform; platforms move too fast for generalists. Thinking of hiring? Caleb breaks it down: Agencies: great for learning, expensive, use for knowledge transfer. Contractors: good for pilots and validation, do a paid trial. Full-time: biggest investment, most loyalty, higher culture-building potential. Numbers don’t matter if you don’t track the right ones. “Stop tracking everything. Only track what changes what you do.” Caleb recommends outlier/multiplier reporting: “This post did 1.5x our benchmark.” Simple, focused, actionable. Don’t just chase views. Width vs. depth. The width gets you discovered; depth builds trust and drives business. Early on, focus on depth—case studies, showing yourself in action, proof not promises. All content is about scaling trust. Trust is the currency. It precedes every transaction—for customers and talent. Share RESULTS, and your audience will go from associating you with general success to associating you with THEIR success. Calls to action? Best case: no pitch in organic, pitch in paid retargeting. If that’s not an option, make your pitch soft and value-based—let your content do the selling. Email matters. It’s the only thing you "own." Offer high-value stuff (playbooks, worksheets) for sign-ups—make it worth leaving the platform. Most overlooked platform right now? LinkedIn. Not just for B2B, not just for resumes—it’s Facebook 2014. Caleb: “If you show up with your actual personality, you will stand the fuck out.” Human > robot. Podcasts aren’t just vanity. They’re trust machines. Advertising ROI is through the roof. Explore innovative formats—panels, fireside chats—not just talking-head interviews. Collaborations? Gold. They put you in front of new audiences—and WHO you collaborate with matters. “Your brand is the intentional pairing of relevant things. Be careful who you’re paired with.” When hiring editors/creatives: give feedback on what you LIKE, not just what to “fix.” Empower people, let them own creative calls, and admit when you’re wrong. And if you want to stand out in your niche, don’t just copy top creators there—look for inspiration OUTSIDE your bubble. Video game creators, old books, unexpected places. “If you’re always copying the leader, you’ll always be number two.” TAKEAWAY: Build for trust, build intentionally, and adapt relentlessly. Don’t just be a content robot. Be someone people seek out, not just algorithm fuel.
