Leaders, take a real good look at your starting lineup and ask yourself, “am I allowing each of my team members to shine their lights bright?” You have to trust those who you hire and empower them to create. #ItTakesATeam #MakeItHappen #TrustYourPeople 💯🔥✅

@english_evt @Team_English1 @LauraLolder Yes! Jamboard on Google is an excellent online way of annotating. Its through Google. Place a screen shot of the poem, and students can use sticky notes, text boxes, and images to show understanding 😀

Has anyone got ideas about how students can annotate a poem when they don’t have a printed copy in front of them 🤔🤔🤔 any kind of technology that allows them to do this on a screen? @Team_English1 @LauraLolder

As you watch this thing lift off and go away, imagine how it must feel for Muslim families. Immigrant families. The House, the Senate, and the White House given to a party that sees them as human beings. This is a moment of relief for a lot of people. #InaugurationDay

When you pull up a students "file" and review their background, at risk factors, test scores, do not be quick to disregard them as helpless. Protect our children and believe in the dreams someone else had for them so many years ago.

Not sure why this hit my heart this morning, but as an educator I feel the need to honor those who fought for my students of color to have a fighting chance. From remembering and pronouncing their names correctly and waiting for their voice about an idea prompts moments like this

Today, as I was sworn in, I held in my jacket pocket copies of the ships’ manifests recorded at Ellis Island when my Great Grandfather Israel arrived in 1911 and my Great Grandmother Annie arrived in 1913. A century later, their great grandson was elected to the U.S. Senate.

Your students aren't learning or showing growth because they know you don't believe in them. Period.

If you support #DisruptTexts then you're not going to let department meetings happen where you don't talk about the elephant in the room. I get it that teaching in a pandemic is rough, but autopilot can't be the answer.

I find it interesting that educators are not taking the time to do the WORK in designing curriculums that not only reveal racism, but teach students how to develop their own opinions and create change for their own communities. We have to teach our students that they have a voice
