A FEW THINGS I’VE LEARNED ON THIS APP:
When I started on X, I honestly didn’t understand how it worked. I just knew I had things to say. Over time, through trial, mistakes, and a lot of observation, I began to understand how the platform moves. I thought I should share a few things I’ve learned along the way.
1. The blue tick matters more than you think.
If you're serious about building on X, getting verified helps. It signals commitment. People take your account more seriously, and the platform tends to give verified users a bit more visibility. It’s not magic, but it opens doors.
2. Don’t ignore people who follow you.
Follow them back, even if they only have one follower. Remember, you were once like them.
3. Consistency is everything.
There will be days you post and it feels like no one is there. You might feel like you're talking to yourself. Post anyway. Some of my best-performing posts came after days when engagement felt almost nonexistent.
Consistency teaches both the algorithm and your audience that you’re here to stay.
4. Build valuable friendships.
This surprised me the most. The real strength of X is the community you build.
Engage with smaller accounts. Leave thoughtful comments. Support people who are also growing.
Many of them will later support your posts, amplify your voice, and become part of your daily interactions. When monetization comes, you’ll realize how valuable that community is.
5. For early impressions, be active in big conversations.
If you want visibility as a new account, comment early on posts from Big accounts. When people gather in the replies, thoughtful comments can bring a lot of impressions to your page.
It’s one of the easiest ways to get seen and work toward your 5M impressions for monetization. But once you get the 5M, focus on building your own community by engaging your mutuals.
At the end of the day, my biggest realization about X is simple:
It’s not just about tweeting. It’s about showing up, connecting with people, and staying consistent long enough for the platform to notice you.
To my mutuals building their accounts — keep going.
You might feel small today, but every big account you see started with a timeline where it felt like they were the only ones reading their posts.
