@San_VanP Essential that this comes high on the global health agenda. Salmonella is not typhoid. Salmonella is typhoid, invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS), NTS diarrhea & paratyphoid. Until we understand this, we will continue to fail in our duty to global public health.

Many congratulations to my friend and long time colleague Sam Kariuki, Royal Society Pfizer Prize winner. A great scientist and mentor of many. His work on Salmonella disease and AMR in Africa alone is world leading.

The epidemic of AMR non-typhoidal salmonellosis that has gone unchecked on the African continent for 30 years has killed hundreds of thousands and likely over a million children. It is largely ignored but we need a vaccine and better diagnostics. Editors and researchers note.
