In the next coming weeks, you should be receiving financial aid packages from the schools that you have have been accepted to. One of the forms of aid you may qualify for include federal loans which include subsidized and unsubsidized loans.

Reminder! 📣 Apply for financial aid by March 2nd for your full award! FAFSA applicants can apply at StudentAid.Gov. CADAA applicants can apply at Dream.Csac.Ca.Gov 🖥️

All students should create a WebGrants 4 Students (WG4S) account after submitting the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application. On your WG4S account, you can check the status your GPA (if required) and manage or check the status of your state financial aid awards. Get started by going to mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov 💻

There are many places you can go to search for scholarships. Many students look at the large dollar amounts advertised by National Search Sites but forget that these types of scholarships tend to be very competitive because you’re competing nationally for them. Local scholarships tend to be forgotten but these small awards add up quickly! Make sure you’re practicing caution when searching for scholarships. Be wary of no essay scholarships. If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is!

The activities and awards section is a great opportunity to show the UC’s your involvement outside of academics. The CSU or California State University system is made up of 23 campuses across California. Local CSU’s include Cal State Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State Dominguez Hills. FINANCIAL AID 101 💰 The term “Financial Aid” refers to money used to pay for college. Some of this money is “free money” or money you don’t have to pay back like scholarships and grants. Another form of financial aid is work-study where you have to earn money by working on-campus job. Lastly, loans are borrowed money that you will eventually need to pay back.
