At the commissioning of the upgraded Nakonde One Stop Border Post on 19 March 2026, President @HHichilema reinforced the urgency of continued investments, noting that sustained border upgrades are essential for Zambia to fully leverage its strategic position as a regional trade and transit hub. British High Commissioner to Zambia, @RTerzeon, hailed the strength of coordination and disciplined delivery behind the project’s completion. TradeMark Africa CEO @daveghbeer noted that faster, more predictable border processes will strengthen Zambia’s trade competitiveness and lower the cost of doing business. #KeepAfricaTrading

Over the Eid period I had the pleasure of visiting mosques across the constituency to join local communities in their celebrations. A really warm and joyful atmosphere and a pleasure to be welcomed in.

Last month I joined @Ideaspace3 for their Art Social coffee morning in Leytonstone - hearing from residents about local concerns and seeing the fantastic work they do bringing the community together through creativity ☕🎨 Thank you to everyone who came and shared their experiences!

Last night @jtworr sat and peddled the idea that our NHS is broken beyond repair. His solution? A system that would leave patients paying through the nose for even the most basic appointments. My solution? Rebuilding the NHS, so that it's always there for us when we need it.

Last week we held the AGM of the Prostate Cancer APPG I am proud to Chair. In the Chamber a few minutes later, I highlighted the powerful testimonies we’d just heard and called for more focus on prostate cancer action in the run-up to the Men and Boys Health Summit.

Earlier this month, I co-hosted a roundtable with @Ms_Alex_Baker and @Georgia_Gould on SEND support for Armed Forces families. We heard powerful testimonies and discussed the important reforms currently being developed. The Armed Forces Community APPG will be submitting to the consultation to help ensure that service families’ voices are properly heard.

To mark International Women’s Day, the Armed Forces Community APPG joined with the Women in Defence APPG to celebrate women across our Forces, recognising their successes but also the challenges that persist. A big thank you to Colonel Lyndsey Kelly, Commodore Sarah Oakley, and my friend Group Captain Victoria Fulton for sharing their experiences!

£1bn of investment in our young people is truly welcome. It’s so positive that Waltham Forest College hosted the launch of this policy which will direct apprenticeships to the young people who need them most and help create 200,000 jobs.

Awesome to join reps from Space UK at Leytonstone School to talk to year 9 students about the breadth of careers available in the space sector. 👩🏽‍🚀🛰️ It is so important that cutting-edge industries are accessible to young people locally. A big thank you to Head Teacher Julian Onyelekere for help setting this up.

Met with the union Prospect to discuss defence workers’ concerns - from costly MOD‑approved equipment to the challenges of staff development while the sector is in limbo. 🔧 This week @CommonsDefence urged the Govt to publish the DIP and lift spending to 3% of GDP.

So positive to make the best use of the visit of Gabon’s Foreign Minister by hosting UK firms who are investing in Gabon and driving forward shared economic goals. Excellent, focused discussion of priorities that our Commonwealth partnership can unlock. 🇬🇦🇬🇧 W/ @UKinGabon
