People are worried about current conflicts and looming global crises. They expect their government to lead the country through, as the PM is doing. More instability is not in Britain’s interest. Our full focus now must be on dealing with immediate economic & security challenges.

Thought for the day: Grief is understandable. I feel it, just like I did last year. If we show that Reform’s “Get Starmer Out” campaign has been successful… Their next will 💯 be “GE NOW” We fought so hard for this mandate to govern. Let’s use it to crack on and deliver.

Today's election results are devastating, with so many devoted champions of our communities swept away. The depth of this loss only makes it more important to take the time we need and consider how we can move forward in the interests of our communities and the country. Labour were elected to rebuild after years of destructive Tory chaos, and we cannot deliver on this without sober reflection.

Today, we honour courage, resilience, and our enduring strength and unity as a democracy. On this day, as we mark the surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied Forces, we give thanks for the generation that sacrificed so much to secure the freedom and rights we all cherish today. 🙏

Great to welcome Environment Secretary @EmmaforWycombe to Wanstead yesterday, supporting our Labour councillors delivering for climate and nature locally. 🌳🌹 @redbridgelabour has cut council emissions by a third, invested £1m in flood resilience, and installed 500+ EV chargers locally.

Labour has reduced the NHS waiting list to the lowest in 3 years. In London, 46,074 fewer people are now waiting for treatment thanks to hard-working NHS staff and Labour’s record investment in the NHS. 📉 We will keep pushing forward to make the NHS fit for the future.

Last week, I visited Leyton and Wanstead Synagogue in Leytonstone to offer my support to our local Jewish community in light of the attacks on synagogues across London. This week has sadly shown again why we must continue to speak out against the evil bigotry of antisemitism wherever it arises.

We need solidarity between our communities and trust in our police if we are to stop escalating division and ensure security for all. Every part of society has to do better. Politicians and leaders of all kinds must defend our shared values and root out bigots in their midst. Media platforms must stop amplifying disinformation and hate.
