Back from the bottom of Challenger Deep - my ninth dive there. Was accompanied by Richard Garriott, the incoming President of the Explorer's Club. We were able to spend two hours on the seafloor, continuing our exploration of this, the deepest point on the planet. More to come.

Automated Lander "Skaff" at the bottom of the Eastern Pool of the Challenger Deep. (Picture taken with my cellphone from inside the Limiting Factor submersible.) The "scoop" soil sampler was designed and built by the great students from my High School, St. Mark's of Texas.

Just back up from Challenger Deep! My co-pilot was Dr. Kathy Sullivan - now the first woman to the bottom of the ocean and a former astronaut as well as NOAA Administrator! Big congratulations to her! This was my 3rd time to the bottom. Well done by the crew, Triton, and EYOS.

One and a half hours to launch for a dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench - Challenger Deep. Powering up the Limiting Factor, checking and re-checking everything, and reviewing the dive plan with Dr. Sullivan. Weather great. All systems go.

From our Captain this morning: "DSSV Pressure Drop departed Guam at 1030 this morning bound for Challenger deep." A wonderful thing to hear. First planned dive is for 8 am June 7th, local Guam time (15 hours ahead of US Central time), with Dr. Kathy Sullivan and I onboard.
