@areyouawitchor2 agreed. i was only referring to the terms mentioned in the tweet you had quote RT’d, some of the right’s framings are just flat-out defamation attempts that should be debunked & extinguished, rather than embraced.

@camelparade The term "family values" can and does have meaning to many ppl being a heteronormative, Christian nuclear idea and I think the left should try and reclaim it. I also think the idea that family values is a right wing dogwhistle is a pretty westernized view of things tbh.

Patriotism isn't nationalism tho. Also since when are family values bad? They CAN be bad if they're extremely traditionalist, but they can also be about integrity, respect, sharing and kindness. It's also good to want families to stay together. Stop conceding to the right.

It's depressing that the opposition doesn't realise that by repeating your opponent's frame (nationalism, family values etc), you don't steal their votes, you just strengthen their narrative. If voters go into the polling booth thinking 'Britain first' and they'll vote Tory.
